Stephanie and all of her kids arrived back home, and Stephanie took Michelle to cheerleading camp. They listened to music and sang their hearts out the entire ride.
This was the first time she would be separated from her daughter for so long a week here or a couple of weeks there was it.
When they pulled up, Michelle saw her friend, and she ran over and hugged Stacy. They both walked back over, and Michelle could see her mom was struggling with this.
"Hey, Mom, I am going to be fine. This is something I will be doing every summer, and I know it's going to be hard, but I am excited."
"I know, sweetheart. I just don't know what I am going to do without my girl around. You know you're my best friend; I'm just going to miss you."
"I know, Mama, I will miss you too and even my brothers and sister. I will call you every night, I promise. I will see you at the end of July and on the fourth of July for the cookout they will be doing here. You are coming, right?"
"Of course, I will be here, and so will both of your dads. I expect that call at least every other night unless you want to call every night. Then I will be happy to talk to you anytime you want to call, baby. Okay, go have fun, make new friends, and enjoy your time away from your mother. Be responsible and don't get in any trouble. I love you, baby girl."
"I can't wait for everyone to meet my cool mom and both of my dads. Be safe going home, and I will you taught me right from wrong. I will call you every night starting tonight. Maybe after I get used to it here, I won't call so much, but as of right now, I want to call you every night. I love you, Mama, and thank you for letting me do this. Thank you for always supporting our dreams. I love you so much." She gave her a hug and walked off with her friend Stacy after grabbing her bags.
Steph stood there and watched her walk away. She was growing up way too fast. She wasn't ready for them to be independent. She liked the fact they needed her, but Michelle is growing up and maturing. No matter how hard she wanted to stop it, she knew she couldn't. Her firstborn baby girl was turning into a young lady.
Steph climbed back into her car and drove back home. The drive home wasn't so much fun because Michelle wasn't here with her anymore. She had driven the Porsche to drop her off because Michelle thinks her mom's car is cool, and she rarely drives it.
All the guys stop and stare when she drives it, it's got less than fifteen thousand miles on it, and it's five years old. She keeps it covered in the garage; she just rarely drives it. She drove it today because of Michelle and the other parents were eyeing them when they pulled in.
Joey and Jordan both called her that evening. Joey had allowed Jordan to call her first since Michelle was his daughter.
Steph's phone rang, and she saw Jordan's name, "Hello."
"Hey, Steph, how did it go dropping Michelle off at camp?"
"It went great, she was so grown up as she talked to me and told me she needed to do this, and she knew I would miss her and she would miss me too, but she was excited."
"Yea, she is growing up, and as much as I hate it, we have to let her."
"I know, Jordan. Our baby girl is growing into a young lady, and I don't think my mama heart can take it. She's only been gone for six hours, and yet I miss her so much."
"Yes, she is, and I completely understand because my Daddy heart is breaking as I see her changing into a beautiful young woman. She's already gotten her period; now she can make us grandparents. I want my tiny little baby back, the one that depended on us for everything. Now, she does stuff herself and rarely needs my help."
