Four Months later: February 1991
Jordan left three weeks ago for Asia, they left two weeks before their first show. They had to ensure the stage and everything made it.
I had him home, then he left, then I had him home, and now he's gone for six months. I learned before the Holiday break that I had enough credits to graduate early.
I got a phone call yesterday offering me a job as a finance director with Millennium Hotels in New York. I had three weeks to accept or deny the job.
It had been really hard this time, Jordan being overseas; she had heard from him once since he left. He still had a whole tour left to finish.
She had completed her finals before Christmas break, and before her last day, the Dean called her into his office for a meeting, telling her she had enough credits to graduate and she didn't have to attend next semester. She had one week before the ceremony, and she could walk the stage in December or June.
She had chosen to walk in December. She was a little concerned because she thought she would have school to occupy her now he was going to be gone for six months, and she would be alone at home.
The job was a really good job; she would get a starting salary of one hundred and fifty thousand per year, plus a 401-k, and health insurance, they would pay her moving expenses, and she would get a furnished home by Central Park.
The job was really too great to pass up, but she had to figure out how she and Jordan could make it work. Would he be willing to move to New York for her? Like she had stayed in Boston for him when her dad's job moved him back to Tennessee two years ago.
She couldn't travel the world with Jordan, and he couldn't not tour because of her. The band had fans crazy fans stalking them, chasing them down, and ripping their clothes off. She knew they would never have a life where they could go out to dinner or the movies.
She knew she loved Jordan; that had never been a question. What she was questioning was whether it would be worth it to stay with him and not have a life or if she should go out on her own and make her way in the world. This was his home, not hers. They had promised each other that if anything happened between them or if one of them passed away, the home would be kept no matter what.
She kept looking over the offer, she had researched the company, and she had even viewed what would be her home if she took the job and moved.
She was going to be twenty-three this year, and the only thing she had to show was a ring and pictures of a life with Jordan. She had seen him seven months max over the last three years.
Her dad used to have a saying if you love someone set them free if you are meant to be together, you will come back to one another.
She grabbed a notebook and her typewriter as she typed a letter to the company that wanted to employ her. She typed it out and grabbed an envelope. She sealed the letter up and placed a stamp on the outside. She put it in her mailbox.
She decided she had to do this for herself; if she and Jordan were meant to be, they would. She walked upstairs and started sorting through her clothes. She had accepted the job she had agreed on a start date in two weeks.
She couldn't tell Jordan what her plans were. He knew she was offered a job, and he told her she didn't need to worry about working. He was going to take care of her.
She sat down and thought of what to write. She looked at that paper for two days. Jordan should be in Hawaii now, but she hadn't heard from him as of yet.
She thought long and hard about what to write. She started writing, and when she finished, she looked over it and thought it should explain why she is doing what she is doing, is for her, not because of him.
