May 1, 2010:
Joey leaves on tour in two days. The Red Sox were playing Toronto, so we went to the game, and he was holding Griffin and feeding him a little bit of the hotdog that his three teeth would get. They are eight months old and crawling all over the house now.
Griffin is a major Mama's boy, and Kira is a Daddy's girl. This was one of the few times he wanted Joey. So, of course, I had to snap a photo.
Joey is really stressing about leaving on tour even tho school now gets out at the end of May, so it will only be for a few weeks. They get their report cards on Friday before Memorial Day and have their little last-day party.
They have a show on Saturday, May 29th, then not another one until June 4th, so he is flying home after the show, and we will leave the house and fly to Chicago on June 3rd.
This is the Casi-No tour they will tour from May 7th and end the tour on June 19th in New York City. It's only 16 shows, and when I arrive, there will on be nine shows left, but he refused to be separated from the kids and me any longer than three weeks and five days.
They have a five-day break for the cruise, an eight-day break, and another five-day break. He told them he would record for the eight-day break, but for the second five-day break, he is flying home and will return the day of the show because that's my birthday.
He called me and discussed it before he talked to Jared. I told him it was okay if he needed to record that other break. He stopped me and said no way, I am coming home to my kids and my wife for her birthday.
"Jordan is also flying in, so we can do the big birthday dinner with all four of you. I am already pissed because I am going to miss the kid's birthday, but I am not missing yours. I am going to try and fly in for both of theirs."
So, when Joey hinted he wanted to go to the Red Sox game, of course, I bought tickets to surprise him with before he left. I laid them in my waistband as I laid down for bed the night I got them.
As usual, he laid down and started rubbing my sides, and when he moved his hand over, he felt the tickets. He looked at me funny, and I smiled.
"It's a surprise for you," He pulled the band back and pulled them out.
"Baby, you got us tickets to the game tomorrow. Yes, I did."
"You, my love, are the perfect woman. An extra reward tonight," and we made love for most of the night until the early morning, then we blissfully fell asleep cuddled together.
We went to the game the next day with all four of our kids. Michelle was sitting on the other side of Joey, and Stefan was sitting next to me. Joey was holding Kira, but Griffin wanted him, so we switched, and then the people came selling food. He bought us all a hotdog, and the kids were plain and bought us drinks.
Joey and I come as often as we can to watch the Red Sox games, we also watch the Celtics, and I try to support him and his love for his sports teams. Just like we often fly to Tuscaloosa and any other games we can catch of my favorite college team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
We try to support each other and even if that means going to games or for teams other than those we like. Marriage is about compromise, and we always meet each other in the middle. We work so well together. Jordan took me to one football game and was a sourpuss all night. Joey will even cheer for my team; he won't wear a jersey, but he will cheer for them. I will, however, wear a Celtics or Red Sox jersey or shirt because it isn't cheating on my team.
I love nothing more than seeing my husband happy, but I noticed he wasn't as focused on the game as he normally was. He seemed distracted, and I think it's because he is worried about leaving me with all four kids. Even tho his mom, sisters, Marlene, Sharon, Allison, and Dave have all promised him they will check on the kids and me.
