Crowley walked into the bookshop to see it in quite a state.
"Angel? You here?"
"In the back my dear!"
Crowley walked through the bookshop to the back where Aziraphale was putting the books back on the shelf.
"What in Satan's name happened in here?" asked Crowley
"If you must know dear it was a school class trip to see the historical sights of London"
"I have more faith in the destructive powers of children everyday" said Crowley with a mischievous smirk.
Aziraphale looked at him with one eyebrow raised "Are you going to help me put them back or not?"
"Alright, don't get your wings in a bunch"
Crowley watched as Aziraphale rolled up his sleeves and he saw the burn on his arm, the one he sustained when the library of Alexandria was burned and the Angel was trapped inside. He would've died if Crowley had not saved him from the flames of hellfire.
Seeing the burn sent Crowley into a tailspin of old and traumatic memories, his fears and pains of that day were all filling up his mind.
The angel had noticed something was wrong with the demon when he saw him not moving and staring into space, he also saw a single tear fall from his eye.
"Crowley? Are you alright my dear?"
There was no response from the demon.
Aziraphale walked up to Crowley and put his hand on his shoulder which jolted him out of his state.
"Crowley are you quite well?"
"I'm fine just tired that's all" said the demon with a quick smile before picking up a few books and putting them on the shelf.
"Crowley tell me what's bothering you?"
Crowley sighed "I forgot about it that's all"
"Forgot about what?"
Crowley took the angels hand and turned it over running his finger over the burn "This"
"Oh"
"I just got wrapped up in the old memories that's all, I'm fine"
Aziraphale placed his hand on the demons cheek and smiled
"Does it hurt?" asked the demon
"Sometimes" said Aziraphale as he went back to picking up the books "I must admit I have gotten used to it"
Crowley sighed and sat down but jumped a little when he leaned back.
"Are you alright dear?"
"Its only my back, Its a little sore today"
"Your back?"
"My scars" mumbled Crowley
"I might be able to help with that, if you'll allow me?"
"Help how?"
"A cooling ward"
"Those actually work?"
Aziraphale smiled and said "You never know until you try"
"Alright"
"Take off your shirt for me"
Crowley took off his shirt to reveal his bare chest and back. The two scars on his shoulder blades sent shivers down the Angels spine, he had never seen them before.
"It might sting a little at first but only for a minute or two"
"Alright"
The Angel placed his hands on top of the scars and Crowley flinched a little, no one had touched them before. The Angel got to work on his wards and sure enough Crowley could start to feel the stinging feeling, it was like getting stung by a thousand bees.
Minutes later and the Demon could feel the wards begin to work, his back wasn't sore for the first time in centuries, there was no pain, not at all.
The angel was finished and looked at the demon, who looked at him.
"Well?"
"Its gone, the pain, its gone, for the first time in millennia, I don't feel it, Thank you Angel"
"Anytime my dear" said the angel
Crowley glanced at the burn on the Angels arm. Crowley took his hand and looked at the burn. He realised he could do for Aziraphale what he had done for him and so he summoned his coldest breath and blew it onto the burn.
"What are you...?" asked Aziraphale
"How does it feel now?" asked Crowley
"I...I don't feel it at all, how did you do that?" asked the angel
"I have my ways" said the demon with a smirk
"Thank you my dear"
"Thank you Angel, you have done a true miracle for me tonight"
Aziraphale smiled and chuckled a little "It is my speciality"
