His reasoning shocks Neteyam. The marine boy has confused him yet again.
For some reason, Mo'dan is one of those people he just can't seem to completely figure out. The contradictory of some of his actions to others make no sense.
Neteyam- Did you want him to?
Mo'dan- . . .
Neteyam- Do you want me to?
Mo'dan- A fitting punishment, is it not?
Neteyam comes to a halt and grabs Mo'dan's wrist, stopping him as well. He looks back at Neteyam and the boy looks him in the eyes with a serious expression.
Neteyam- If you know it was something deserving of punishment, why did you do it?
As Neteyam lets go of his wrist, he catches it softly in his own hand, caressing it, then smirks.
Mo'dan- I'll tell you for a kiss.
Neteyam snatches his hand away with an angered groan, then storms off. Mo'dan quickly follows behind him.
Mo'dan- Calm down, I was just kidding.
Neteyam- But I was serious. Why are you joking around right now?
Mo'dan- Because it doesn't matter why I did it. I'm far past the point of earning forgiveness. You can't go back from that, there's no undoing it.
Neteyam slows his pace, calming himself.
Neteyam- Is forgiveness what you want?
Mo'dan- Doesn't matter.
Neteyam- Does Aonung know why you did it? Is that why he won't tell anyone what really happened?
Mo'dan- No, and . . . I don't know why he's protecting me. I never asked him to.
Neteyam- Maybe he thinks you deserve it . . . Forgiveness.
He looks down at Neteyam's face. It's clear he's thinking very deeply.
Mo'dan- Perhaps. Would you agree with him?
Neteyam- Without knowing your reason?
Mo'dan- He doesn't know either.
Neteyam- Then . . . I-
Mo'dan suddenly lunges towards him, backing him against a tree. The action startles a gasp out of Neteyam.
With his arms placed on each side of Neteyam, he hovers over him, blocking him in. The forest boy holds his arms down to his sides, wishing he could step further away.
The taller boy leans his face closer to Neteyam's, but he refuses to look up at him.
Neteyam- Back up.
Mo'dan- I'm eager to hear your answer.
Neteyam- . . .
Mo'dan- Neteyam.
He doesn't say a word. Though, even if he didn't feel like he couldn't breathe, he wouldn't know what to say.
This boy did an unforgivable thing, so why is Aonung protecting him? Aonung always has a reason for his actions, but without knowing why this time, does he agree with him?
Mo'dan- Hey.
Suddenly his gaze is pulled from the ground when Mo'dan lifts his face up by the chin. He merely stares for a moment, captivated by those golden eyes.
Mo'dan- Your answer.
Neteyam- I don't know . . . I don't know if you deserve forgiveness.
Mo'dan- Not to that.
Neteyam- W-Then to what?
Mo'dan- Do you, or do you not, find me attractive?
