January 8th
We're gonna die

•••••

"This is ridiculous."

Edmund sighed, running a hand over his face. "Yeah I know." He breathed.

"It's - it's a suicide mission!" Susan exclaimed. "We're gonna die, we're literally going to die."

"Calm down Su," Edmund breathed, but he agreed with her, even if he wouldn't show it. "We can't do anything about it."

"Yes, we can." Susan argued.

"Susan, Peter's the High King, what he says goes." Edmund told her. "And he's our brother, if he's stupid enough to attack Miraz's castle, shouldn't we be there to make sure he doesn't do something stupid?"

"I think he's already doing something stupid." Susan grumbled, sitting down with a sigh.

Edmund walked over and sat beside her, nodding slowly. "He's not himself recently, anyone can see that." He said quietly. "But we're gonna be there for him, make sure everything goes okay."

"Is there any way this could go smoothly?" Susan asked, not sounding very hopeful.

Edmund hesitated. "You never know." He murmured, but he sounded just as hopeful as his sister. "Pray about it."

Susan nodded a little at this, sitting up straight and taking a deep breath. "Yeah," She breathed. "Good idea."

Edmund wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her in for a quick hug before Peter entered the room, gripping the sword that hung from his belt.

"You two ready?" He asked.

"As we'll ever be." Susan muttered, pulling away from Edmund and standing, grabbing her quiver and bow.

"We're really doing this?" Edmund asked.

"Don't start this again," Peter muttered. "Yes we're doing this, and if you've got a problem with it I really don't care."

Edmund and Susan shared a look, Susan rolling her eyes but saying nothing.

"Just stay safe." Edmund said. "Both of you."

"Maybe we should be telling you to be careful." Susan teased softly. "After all it's always you getting yourself into trouble."

"I don't get myself into trouble." Edmund replied with a smirk. "Trouble usually finds me."

Susan chuckled quietly, waiting until Edmund had left the room to grab his sword, before turning to Peter. "Is this really a good idea?" She asked.

Peter stared at her. "I'm not changing my mind." He said after a moment or two of hesitation.

Susan sighed. "Just look out for him," She said, meaning Edmund. "He's more likely to do something stupid in there than you are."

Peter nodded a little, knowing she was right. "I won't let anything happen to him," He breathed. "Don't worry."

Susan scoffed. "Too late..."
