You lied

"Hey Lu."

Lucy glanced up, smiling a little when she spotted her brother, stood in front of her. "Ed." She said happily enough.

Edmund smiled at this, taking a seat on the grass next to her, forcing back a wince as every single muscle in his body screamed out against the movement.

"You okay?" Lucy asked hesitantly, a look of worry in her eyes.

Edmund swallowed hard, guess he wasn't that good at hiding it. "Yeah no I'm fine." He breathed. "I wanted to talk to you actually."

Lucy nodded a little, waiting for him to continue.

"I needed to - to apologise." Edmund murmured. "About when I said Narnia didn't exist, even when I'd been..."

Lucy hesitated. "You lied." She whispered.

Edmund nodded, eyes anywhere but his sister. "Yeah." He choked. "And I'll never forgive myself."

Lucy stared at him. "Well I will." She said rather firmly. "You know I forgive you right? For all of it."

Edmund sighed. "I know," He replied. "Why though, that I don't know."

"You're my brother," Lucy said. "I love you, no matter what you've done in the past, I do still love you, how could I not."

Edmund smiled weakly at this, telling himself he couldn't get into a conversation this deep with someone like Lucy, he just couldn't bring himself to upset her like that. "Thank you." He whispered instead, despite the doubt and pain in his heart.

Lucy smiled at him, reaching over and taking his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "You're welcome."
