June 13th
I can't stay

Peter made sure to be extremely quiet as he crept into the hospital wing, scanning the beds until he found his brother.

Edmund had come down with a rather nasty fever and illness recently, and was now slowly recovering, however finding times between lessons and times he was actually allowed to visit him were hard, so Peter stole every minute he could.

He crept over to the bed, waiting for Edmund to open his eyes and acknowledge that he was there.

"You know, if you get caught in here you'll get in trouble." Edmund whispered. "Aren't you meant to be in History right now?"

Trust Edmund to still know Peter's timetable even when he was sick.

Peter rolled his eyes. "Stuff History." He muttered. "How you feeling?"

"Same as last night." Edmund replied with a small shrug. "Tired, hot and cold, annoyed that I'm sick and stuck in bed."

Peter smiled weakly, sitting beside him. "You'll be fine in no time." He said. "I can't stay long, but I've got these for you."

Edmund couldn't help but smile when Peter placed a handful of toffees on the bedside table. "Thank you." He breathed.

Peter nodded. "Well I know how you hate being stuck in bed, so I thought maybe they'd cheer you up a bit."

Edmund smiled again but didn't get a chance to say anything before one of the nurses walked over.

"Peter, aren't you supposed to be in a lesson right now?"

She was a kind lady, young, gentle, but that didn't mean she'd let Peter skip lessons whenever he felt like it.

Peter sighed. "Yeah, sorry." He breathed.

The nurse smiled softly. "That's okay," She murmured. "I know why you needed to be here, but maybe next time come after dinner instead of during a lesson yeah?"

Peter nodded. "I will." He replied.

"Okay, now off you go." She said. "Edmund will be right as rain in a few days and then he's all yours."

Peter did as he was told and headed off for his History lesson, and Edmund just chuckled weakly as he watched him go.

Typical Peter.
