March 3rd
Homework••••••
"This is ridiculous." Edmund grumbled.
His Dad glanced up at him, smiling a little. "What is?" He asked.
Edmund glared down at the papers in front of him. "Homework." He muttered, looking as though he wanted to set every last sheet on fire.
His Dad chuckled gently, placing down his newspaper. "Do you need some help?" He offered.
"Isn't that kinda cheating?" Edmund asked. "I'm meant to do this one by myself."
"Who would know?"
Edmund blinked at his Dad, shocked by the answer.
John laughed. "I'm joking, I'm joking." He said quickly.
Edmund nodded a little, staring back down at the paper. "Half of this doesn't even make sense anyway." He murmured, before sighing. "I want a word with whoever invented homework, because they were clearly absolutely crazy."
His Dad smiled, walking over and bringing out two mugs. "Tea?" He asked, reaching for the teabags.
Edmund smiled a little. "Yeah, please." He murmured in reply, finally picking up his pencil.
John just smiled, looking up when Peter entered the room.
"I'm off out." He announced, already pulling on his coat.
"Where abouts?" John questioned, waiting for the water to boil.
Peter smiled. "Just out with some friends." He said. "Over to the park."
Edmund stared at him. "Lucky you." He grumbled.
Peter raised an eyebrow. "You wanna come?" He asked.
"Unfortunately Edmund is busy." His Dad answered before he could. "What? Don't think I don't know that that work is due on Monday."
Edmund groaned, hitting his forehead on the table and just staying there, not saying or doing anything else.
Peter looked mildly concerned, but in an amused way, and patted Edmund on the back. "We'll do something another time." He told him. "Now come on, homework won't kill you."
Edmund snorted. "One day it might."
