February 22nd
Where I belong•••••••
"This isn't fair."
Peter sighed a little as he dabbed a wet cloth against the gash on Edmunds cheek, earning a slight wince from his brother, but other than that he sat still. "You're right." He murmured in reply. "It's not."
Edmund swallowed hard. "I hate this," He breathed. "Being back in England."
Peter nodded a little. "Yeah me too." He agreed, trying his best to get all the dirt out of the cut.
Edmund didn't say anything for a moment, before he sighed. "It's too hard," He muttered. "All of it, school, home, the people, the bullies, everybody here seems to hate me, what's the point in even being here? I belong in Narnia, that's where I belong, not here, and I never will belong here."
Peter stared at him for a while, pausing what he was doing. "We'll go back." He reminded him.
Edmund blinked a little at him. This was a rare moment when Peter was actually being, well, Peter.
He hadn't been the same since coming back from Narnia, and it had affected them all, so Edmund was clinging to this moment in time.
Peter wasn't angry, he wasn't being mean, he wasn't using Edmund to let out his anger on to.
He was being caring, and kind, and was actually expressing his emotions.
Edmund knew it wouldn't last long, so he knew he had to treasure this, because he did miss the old Peter - of course he did.
"When?" He whispered after a moment. "Because it's been nearly a year-"
"I know, I know," Peter choked. "But come on, Aslan knows what he's doing yeah?"
Edmund nodded slowly.
"And in the meantime time we just have to put up with it, it sounds harsh but it's the truth." Peter murmured. "But hey, it's the summer holidays next week, at least we can get away from school."
Edmund did find this something worthy to look forward to, considering he'd get to escape those boys who used to be his friends, but now were just a group who picked on and bullied him at every chance he got, and the gash that Peter was cleaning up was proof of that.
"Thanks." Edmund whispered when Peter had finished.
Peter smiled gently at him. "You're welcome." He whispered back, before gripping Edmund's shoulders. "We'll go back, one day soon, I know we will."
