"Listen, listen breathe, and look at me."
Edmund swallowed hard, choking on his breath as he looked up to meet his brother's eyes.
"If I could take the pain away I would," Peter whispered. "Aslan knows I would, one hundred times over. But I can't, it's not possible. What I can do however, is be here, and you have my word that I will be, whenever you need me, wherever you need me, whatever time of day or night, I don't care, I will be there."
Edmund coughed a few times, tears trickling down his cheeks.
"I promise Edmund." Peter added, gripping his brother's shoulders. "I promise."
