June 8th
Help was coming

Peter sat Edmund upright against a tree, swallowing hard as he sat in front of him, shaking slightly.

"You - You okay?" He murmured.

Edmund took a moment before slowly nodding. "Hmmm." He whispered.

Peter took a deep breath. "Help's on its way don't worry." He told him firmly. "It's coming."

Edmund didn't say anything but he looked relieved, that is until he started violently coughing, doubling over as pain shot through his ribs.

Peter stayed as calm as he could, running a hand up and down his brother's back to try and soothe him and gripping his shoulder to steady him.

"It's okay, just breathe." He whispered. "In and out, I've got you, deep breath."

The coughing fit lasted a few minutes, and Peter tried his very best to ignore the blood that had covered Edmund's hand - he couldn't panic, not right now.

"Just hang in there okay?" Peter murmured.

Edmund nodded weakly, and the second Peter had moved to sit next to him he rested his head on his shoulder, going completely limp.

The gash on Peter's head was making him dizzy by this point and he felt sicker than he would care to admit, but he couldn't concentrate on that now, his brother had way too many injuries for him to be worried about a silly little gash.

It was quiet for a moment, but Edmund seemed to be reading his mind. "Your head." He slurred quietly, sounding worried.

"It's fine." Peter tried to reassure him.

"He - he got you pretty good." Edmund whispered.

Peter swallowed hard. "They all got you pretty good so a stupid gash on my head is the least of my worries right now." He told him.

"Just - Just don't pass out." Edmund grumbled.

"I won't if you won't." Peter said firmly.

"I'll try."

Peter hesitated at that response, but he knew help was coming, so he just had to sit tight, stay awake, and make sure Edmund didn't take a turn for the worse. He was stable now, but goodness knows what could happen, he was in a bad shape and could turn at any moment.

"Just hang in there and keep breathing." Peter mumbled. "And I'm right here okay, I'm going nowhere."
