Friendship

•••••••

A good friendship wasn't really something Edmund had growing up.

It was odd really, he never managed to make proper friends no matter how much he tried, and no matter how much he wanted to.

Primary school was tough for him, he was just a kid, and seeing everyone else in his class make friends and become really close annoyed him slightly.

He had people he spoke to of course, but when it came to hanging out with and playing with people, he never really had anyone that would come and find him or that he would go and find.

So primary school was a pretty lonely time, but he was a happy kid at the end of the day, after all, who needed friends when he had his siblings?

Secondary school was different, having no friends seemed to hit him a bit harder this time around, and it probably didn't help that there was a looming threat of a world war that had every kid at that school on the edge of their seats the entire time.

It was almost a repeat of Primary school, but it affected him more this time, and he didn't like being so lonely all the time anymore.

Boarding school was where he got rather harshly bullied for a while, that is until he was pretty much adopted into a group of friends, but this situation was even worse though, but not to Edmund.

He'd made friends, he had people to hang out with, he had people that wanted to spend time with him, and he enjoyed this.

But anyone else could see just how toxic his new friends were, everyone except Edmund himself.

His attitude had changed between the day secondary school and the boarding school.

He wasn't himself anymore and this had led to the horrible choice in friends, and it only made him and his attitude worse.

These friends became his enemies at some point though, after returning from Narnia he did the right thing and ditched them, and boy was he given hell for it.

It got to the point where he couldn't even walk down the corridor without getting either beaten up and having insults hurled at him.

His closest friend during this time was indeed his own brother, so after a while, when even he started to drift away and become someone Edmund couldn't even recognise, he didn't know what to do.

That is until a shy, quiet kid moved into his dorm, and let's just say they really hit it off.

Edmund never really had huge luck with friendships, but at least he'd managed to escape the toxic ones.
