Don't let go

•••••

Peter had no idea how long they'd both been sat there, Edmund curled against his sides, eyes closed, breathing deep.

Lucy had long rushed off to heal the injured, and Susan had eventually gone off to help her, but him and his brother had stayed where they were, neither willing to move.

Peter took a deep, shaky breath after a moment, tightening his grip just slightly on his brother, hugging him tightly and almost scared to let him go.

If he let go, goodness knows what might happen.

But staying there couldn't of been good for Edmund, he needed to rest, to get some sleep in a comfortable bed, to heal and recover after all that had just happened.

So reluctantly Peter went to pull away, only to be stopped by his brother, who's grip instantly got tighter and his breath caught.

Peter froze, swallowing hard. "Ed?" He choked out, frowning a little.

Edmund stayed where he was, eyes staying closed. "Don't let go." He whispered.

Peter's heart broke then and there, and after that he couldn't bring himself to move for a long while, he just stayed there with his brother, holding him close and just reassuring himself that he was alive.

It had been way too close, and Peter never would've thought he'd ever be that close to losing his brother, yet it had happened, and it had shaken Peter more than he was letting on.

So he wasn't going to let go.

Not now.

Not ever.

Never, ever again.
