July 16th
Haven't I given enough?

"I can't - I can't do this anymore okay."

"Can't do what?"

"I can't be King!" Peter cried. "I - I just can't do it."

Edmund looked slightly taken back by this, and stood there staring at his brother for ages.

"Everyone expects so much from me, and I can't do it." Peter choked out. "I've had enough, I - I can't."

Edmund took a deep breath, pulling himself together. "Pete," He paused, thinking carefully about what to say. "I know you can do it-"

"You don't understand." Peter cut him off. "Haven't I given enough? I don't have anything left to give!"

Edmund shook his head. "Peter please," He breathed. "Aslan wouldn't have put you in charge or ruling if he didn't think you were capable."

"Maybe Aslan was wrong." Peter mumbled.

"Aslan is never wrong." Edmund said somewhat firmly. "And you know that. Peter, maybe you feel like you can't do this anymore because you barely accept anyone's help."

Peter blinked.

Edmund smiled weakly. "You're strong, there's no doubt about that," he told him. "but you know what, you're stronger when you have people by your side, and that's my job."

He gave his older brother an amused look, sitting down beside him. "I'm here to make sure you stay strong and don't give up."

Peter stared at the ground for a little while, before he looked up at Edmund, who was still smiling at him. "You mean that?" He murmured.

"Of course I do." Edmund replied. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. You have me, always."

Peter smiled weakly, nodding his head. "Thank you."
