Are you sure?

"Go on then, pick a flavour."

A seven year old Edmund peered through the glass at the ice cream, a small frown on his face as he thought long and hard about what he wanted.

Peter waited rather patiently, and so did the man behind the counter, until Edmund finally made up his mind.

"Chocolate." He said somewhat firmly.

Peter smiled a little, he could've guessed that a minute ago. "Are you sure?" He checked.

Edmund thought for another five seconds, before nodding his head quickly. "Yeah." He breathed.

Peter nodded back and paid for a chocolate ice cream, thanking the cashier before they headed back outside.

"Make sure you keep your hand over it or the seagulls will steal it." Peter told him, scanning the beach to try and find his Mum and Dad.

"I won't let them." Edmund said almost angrily, glaring up at the sky and any seagull that dared come close.

"From what I've experienced I don't really think you'd be able to do anything about it." Peter muttered.

During this beach holiday both him and his Mum had had food nicked by those awful seagulls, and it really put a damper on your fun for a moment.

"Look, Mum and Dad are over there." Peter said, pointing them out. "Why don't we stay here where it's sheltered whilst you eat that, and then we'll head back to them."

Edmund glared at another seagull before nodding his agreement. "Prob'ly a good idea." He murmured, already tucking into the ice cream.

Peter smiled a little at him, and he did have to scare off a seagull at one point, much to Edmund's amusement as he watched his older brother chase it away, but he eventually managed to eat the whole ice cream, luckily without it being stolen by those crazy birds.
