April 27th
I thought you were asleep

Peter made sure to be extremely quiet as he crept into the tent that night, not wanting to disturb his brother even the slightest bit.

It had been three days since the battle against the Witch, and those days had been spent recovering and packing up the entire camp, ready to move to Cair Paravel as soon as possible.

Edmund had headed off to bed around an hour ago, and despite Peter's reluctance to leave him or even let him out of his sight, he'd somehow spent way too long talking to Orious, Aslan and his sisters, and before he knew it it was dark and he was panicking after being away from his brother for so long.

He entered the tent to find his brother laying in the hammock, eyes closed, breathing heavy.

This movement was the only thing that managed to calm Peter down, however he was a little shocked when Edmund's eyes opened.

"I thought you were asleep." He murmured softly.

Edmund shrugged. "Tried." He replied simply.

Peter sighed a little, knowing Edmund had been struggling to sleep properly since they came to Narnia. The poor boy was probably absolutely exhausted.

"You okay?" He couldn't help but ask.

Edmund was silent for a while, before nodding. "Yeah," He murmured. "Just annoyed that I'm so tired yet can't seem to sleep."

Peter nodded in understanding, he'd be annoyed to if it were him. "Why can't you sleep?" He asked hesitantly, feeling as though he already knew the answer but wanting to hear it.

Edmund didn't say anything for a while and only stared at his brother, before he sighed. "Too much to think about," He whispered. "I don't want to be thinking about it trust me, but apparently I have no choice in the matter. She's there everytime I close my eyes."

Peter's heart broke and he slowly kept down beside the hammock so he and his brother were eye level. "It'll pass." He murmured.

Edmund bit his lip. "I hope so." He whispered in reply.

"It will." Peter reassured him. "I promise."
