Riley POV

Liam left me with the four siblings and Brandon, and I felt like a teenager no longer grounded.

"Here, this is something." Barry said, turning his book towards me.

A naked woman was in a blinding white light with a large belly lifted in the air. Her mouth opened wide, like she was screaming, and red blood dripped from her eyes.

"That looks scary as hell, Barry. I'm not doing whatever that is." My body shuddered imaging myself wrapped in magic like that.

A flash of my nightmare came back to me and tears filled my eyes. Why did I dream of being a small child tied to an alter while Mildred burned me with white light? Was it actually a memory? Was that the night my supernatural spirit was torn from me?

"You ok?" Brandon's hand came to my arm in comfort. I shook the memories from my head and tried concentrating on the book.

"Yeah, sorry. I zoned out a moment."

Brandon pointed to the book again. "It says that magic can be given to humans temporarily to strengthen their spirit. 1 out of 5 humans survived birthing a wolf or other beings when lent magic."

I looked back at the picture. "That woman looks like she is dying. 1 in 5 isn't great odds either."

"Better than 0 in 5, which are you current odds." Katie noted.

"Thanks!" I said with a sigh.

Sophia suddenly jumped up from her chair. "Your mark! If you get a wolf from Jax on the next silver moon you could survive without a doubt."

"A wolf from Jax? Is that possible?" I looked to Brandon as fear raced through my body. I didn't want a wolf. I just wanted to go home.

"Ok, I think that is enough for today. Let's get something to eat and talk about something else." His voice was soothing to me, sensing the panic attack threatening to take over my body. I can't take anymore, but I needed to.

"I should know first. I can't keep pretending like my entire life isn't changed forever. Sophia, what does it say about a human becoming a werewolf." I took a hard gulp at my words. My life can't get anymore fucked up than it is now.

"It's rare, but has happened before. When a strong wolf marks a human, that human could be gifted their own wolf on the next silver moon. It would weakened Jax's wolf as his spirit is split in two. Like Eve made from the rib of Adam, so can a new spirit be born from another. Creepy!" Sophia's eyes widened then chuckled reading the next section. Nothing in that book could possibly be funny.

"What else does it say, Sophia?" Barry asked annoyed. We all stared at her with bated breaths waiting to know how it worked.

"Oh, right. Uhm, on the silver moon you and Jax need to mate again and he needs to mark you. It says, as one fills the other with their seed and venom under the silver moon, the goddess may chose to merge their souls then split them in two, giving them both a wolf born of strength and love."

I stood up. "Ok, let's get food now. This is too much for me."

I turned from the table and Star stood like a statue behind me. Had she been there the whole time?

"The magic is preventing you from learning the truth." She said in a low foreboding voice. "You are not human. Your magic still resides inside you. It's weak, barely a spark, but it's there." A light seemed to go off in her head. "When I call upon Freya I will ask her about the possibility of making you whole again. I think that is the only solution."

"What do you think I am?" I asked nervously.

"Something our world needs, but doesn't want." Her hand brushed my cheek and then she walked away.
