Brandon POV

I spent most my morning in the library. There was one on the bottom level for all of us to use, but I was in Liam's private library. Jack gave me access to it about a month ago, hoping we would find something of use in here.

I knew Liam had been through every one of these books already. He was searching for a way to tame his beast, and from the amount of Lycan lore he had, I suspected he wanted a way to kill Demetrius too. He didn't read all of them looking for a solution to Riley's pregnancy though. I prayed he missed something.

"Here are twenty more books about magic, hybrids, spells, and anything else related to the rare and unusual." Barry walked in with his three sisters, Conner, and Tina.

"Thanks." I said, barely lifting my head from the book I was reading. It was an ancient separation spell that witches stopped using long ago. It was powerful enough to completely remove a supernatural spirit in one ritual, but usually left the victim unconscious for years.

"Do you want us to start on Hybrids or spells?" Conner asked taking a seat at a small table next to me. Tina sat next to him with her hand wrapped in his. I gave them a small smile. They were trying to make this work between them and I hoped it did. I knew if Riley wasn't there that night they would probably be both dead right now.

"Hybrids. You owe Riley an essay about past hybrids of werewolf and vampire."

"You got it." Conner took out a notebook and he and Tina opened a book. They agreed to come here for few hours everyday to do research. Once a week they visited Star too. She helped with both quieting his blood lust and taming his wolf. Surprisingly, we found out he had much better control when he drank from his mate.

Tina had allowed him to drink from her before they were marked. They actually carried on a relationship in private for years. The last silver moon they discovered they were actually mated and Tina freaked out.

She refused to speak to him, turning bitter and cold to him. The constant denial is what threw his hybrid in a rampage. It would had been better if she just rejected him, but deep down she knew she actually wanted him

Now that they are fully mated and marked, Conner said her blood sates him in a way he never felt. He doesn't feign for any other's blood either. That was good, as long as she stayed close by his side.

Riley also has both them keeping a detailed journal. She wants other hybrids to have their experiences to relate to. One day maybe even have a plan on how to best help more of their kind.

"Find anything helpful?" Barry asked taking a seat next to me. His sisters all sat at another table and started grabbing books too. I chuckled looking over the little research group we had here.

"Not really. This is an ancient ritual. I doubt it could be useful, but maybe it was the spell performed on Riley. If we knew the spell we can find the undoing of it."

"This is medieval, Brandon. It says the victim would feel as if their insides were being sliced with a hot knife of pure white magic. For hours they would feel as if their body was being burned from the inside out. I don't think a child can survive this level of magic. It does say it gives the cleanest cut to one's soul though."

"Which means it could be the safest way to merge the pieces back together." I looked to a man lying on a wooden table, strapped in thick metal cuffs as a bright light cut through his insides. The look of pain and anguish on this grown man's face was something I prayed Riley didn't endure as a small child.

"Maybe, but could a child even survive such a spell?"

"Probably not. Some of the accounts say other powerful creatures lent them their strength, some even sacrificed themselves in a blood ritual. It gave the victims enough power to withstand the spell until its completion."
