Liam POV
I saw a big ass Lycan in my house walking towards Riley. Suddenly, I couldn't breathe and just leapt from the railing. I felt Jax by my side and knew he would go for Riley. I knew I couldn't kill the beast, but I could stall him while Jax made a run for it with her.
Magic hit me hard in the chest and my body just blacked out. As I came to, Riley was hugging the beast, and Jax laid bloody next to me. Nothing I could imagine would prepare me for what she said though.
"He is my father!"
I knew her father wasn't her biological one, but he was still a fucking Lycan. One that looked strikingly like Demetrius. I growled at the thought this was all a game.
Did Riley lie to us, deceive me? To what end would they play this game? Was her father planning with Demetrius to take me down, or force me to do something?
I shook the thoughts from my head as we walked into the sitting room. It didn't make any sense why Demetrius would be playing a game like this with me. Unless, maybe, he was testing my loyalty to him. If that was the case, I definitely fucked up.
"Lift the spell. I don't want to forget what you tell me." Riley said as she sat next to her father.
"Do it Mildred." He ordered his witch. I didn't see a mark on her neck so she wasn't his mate. What connection did they have to each other?
The older woman rolled her eyes then said a few words. "This isn't wise, Jeremiah. She brings death to us all."
"That is for me to worry about." He snapped at the witch. He definitely didn't like her.
"It is done, Master." The witch said with vile disrespect in her voice.
Riley felt her chest looking around. "That's it? A few words and I'm not cursed anymore. Seems like a trick."
Her father chuckled. "It was a simple spell just to cloud your mind of anything supernatural. It will take a few days to fully lift so you mind isn't overwhelmed. You won't forget anything anymore though."
"What am I?" Riley asked and we all leaned closer, as if we might miss the answer.
"That is a long and complicated..." Jeremiah began to say.
"No! Just say it, dad. For months everyone is about to reveal something then doesn't, or I forget. Just say it. One word of what I am. A witch, a werewolf, a hybrid?" Riley pleaded with him.
"Technically, you are all those."
"How?" I said, desperately needing answers I've been searching for.
"Riley was born a Lycan. A powerful and strong Lycan girl. One that my brother wanted as his own. Your mother and I fled. We took this old hag as our slave for her betrayals and your mother forced her to separate your Lycan from your body. Then we hid you from my brother. You were mostly human after the separation, but in order for you to survive, Mildred had to give you part of her soul, her magic."
"Your brother, Demetrius?"
"Yes, how did you know that? If he knows you're alive, we need to leave, now!" He went to stand but Riley put her hand up.
"Stop! I want an explanation first. Demetrius was here yesterday. Freya tried glamouring me to look like someone else, but he figured it out."
"He met you? That's not possible. You wouldn't be standing here." Jeremiah said in disbelief. I could see his eyes were churning the possible plans Demetrius had for her.
"He did and I am. He tried to kill my mates and harm a little girl."
"Your mates?" He growled and she gave him a disapproving look.
