Liam POV
All month I woke to a pit in my stomach. I had no solutions to the mountain of problems I had laid at my feet. All I wanted was to run my pack like an Alpha should. It was my responsibility to protect them, provide for them, and keep them thriving.
So far I killed twelve of them, plus my father, our former Alpha. I somehow impregnated a human who was stripped of some strong magic and would surely give birth to a child Demetrius will kill.
I also took in an eight year old child that had the power to steal other's magic. A child Demetrius already tried killing once and would kill me if I let her create any problems for our kind.
Everyday my head hurt, trying to spin one solution after the other to correct my mistakes. The problem was, I didn't see them as mistakes. Jax truly believed Riley was meant to be with us. I wanted to believe that too, but I couldn't. Me fathering the child she carried had to stay hidden and that meant I couldn't mark them. My wolf was an absolute prick about it too.
I tried denying him any pleasure and it only made him claw at my insides. He needed his mate or at least someone to overpower and release into. I wasn't giving into him though.
After a few weeks of visiting Star she contacted me about what Freya had to say. I dropped everything and rushed to her shop. I truly thought this would be my salvation. I was so wrong though.
Freya not only knew of Claire's power, but also feared it may become too much for this world. They wanted to keep her safe until she was a teenager so the binding spell wouldn't hurt too much. Also, a spell of such power to be performed on a small child would surely kill her.
As far as Riley, a human ripped of her supernatural spirit, and pregnant by an Alpha, Freya was at a lost. She didn't believe it was possible and wanted to test if it was a trick. Star already told her we had tried the amulet and that we knew it was all true.
Freya was certain of Riley's death as no human could contain such power giving birth to a pup. Star insisted we plan a C-section in hopes we could remove my child before his magic had time to destroy her weak body. It was still unlikely she would survive though.
Freya said she would look into Riley's situation more and get back to us. She wanted to meet her too and definitely be apart of the birth. I was unsure if I would allow it, but I was desperate. Another two weeks passed and still no word from her though.
I happily went to every doctor's appointment, pretending I was annoyed for wasting my time. I knew my boy was growing too fast and feared what it would mean. What if we didn't figure it out in time?
As I raged out through my pack day in and day out I also felt an unusual calm around us. Despite the what ifs in the near future, everything was quiet. No word from Demetrius, Riley and my child were healthy, and my pack was thriving.
Riley accompanied Jax to the office three days a week and I was sure to tag along. Lindsey was more than capable of assisting anything our pack needed the hours I was away. I was only thirty minutes from the pack anyways. I could be there if a real problem arose.
Lately we had some issues with supplies and weaponry. I allowed the cameras to be installed but whoever was causing these disturbance never hit the same spot twice. No one was harmed other than Alfred from the wolfsbane laced swords so I left the little problems for Lindsey to handle.
She was doing well with it all and the pack was gracious for her help. She even organized some charity drives for lesser packs in need and took a few members to give them our offerings. She would make an amazing Luna and had the strength of an Alpha to protect them too.
