Jax POV
I stretched my sore muscles whimpering in pain. I don't remember ever feeling like this in my life. I was never weak and my body was naturally strong. The pain was more than just my body though. Inside I felt emptiness.
I moved the blanket from my body smiling. Riley probably tried to wake me but couldn't. She covered me and apparently ate the whole bowl of fruit. I chuckled at how hungry she always is. It's not something unusual considering she was pregnant, but it made me fill with happiness watching her devour food to create a child, our child.
"Where is my daughter?" A voice so evil rang out, shaking the leaves from the trees and forcing the bugs to scatter.
"She should be inside..." I grabbed my chest feeling darkness inside me. Something wasn't right.
"Get up you idiot!" Jeremiah shouted and I instantly jumped to my feet.
"What is happening? Where is Riley?" Panic was taking over. My wolf forced his way through and growled at Jeremiah. I knew better than to challenge him, but I couldn't think straight. Something was wrong. Star and Freya stood hand in hand chanting just outside the house's border. They couldn't get in.
"She was taken by my brother. You were supposed to protect her!" He roared at me and my wolf whimpered deep inside me. I was pissed and scared, but I couldn't get on his bad side either. Jeremiah was about to lose his shit. If he was anything like Demetrius it would be my head he removed first.
"What is going on?" The three Delta sister asked, running out of the house. "Claire isn't inside. Is she out here?" Sophia asked looking around.
"No! Demetrius took her and Riley." I said clenching my jaw. I stood as a statue staring down Jeremiah while the witches worked to remove whatever spell was keeping them out and us in.
Jeremiah's eye glossed over. "Demetrius just arrived at Liam's. We don't have time for this!" He shouted at the witches, stepping closer to them with sharp claws out. They didn't break their spell though. Their voices grew louder, shaking an invisible barrier like waves in the air. Star's nose began bleeding but she didn't stop, her hand squeezed Freya's more tightly to push through the pain.
I tried to reach out to Liam, I needed to warn him, but I broke my link to our pack. I was about to run inside to grab my phone when Star fell to her knees, crying in agony.
Jeremiah stepped right through the grass and wrapped his hand around my neck. I was a big man, but he was bigger. "You will do everything I say. If my daughter is harmed I will remove your heart. You aren't worthy to be my daughter's mate."
I nodded my head ok and he dropped me. The Delta sisters hugged together crying in fear of Jeremiah. Riley said we could trust him. He looked feral right now though.
"Go to Danny's pack house and tell the other two boys to meet you there. I want those people moved before Demetrius pays them a visit too." He ordered the girls and then ran right to their car and sped off. I didn't blame them for running away. Facing a pissed off Lycan was enough to make you soil yourself.
"Let's go!" Jeremiah pushed me hard in the back and I stumbled to the witches.
"I got you, Star." I whispered picking her up in my arms. She looked liked she aged twenty years.
We walked silently to the car and Jeremiah took off doing over a hundred down the road. I wanted to ask so many questions, but I knew better than to question a Lycan. Their tempers were off the charts viscous. I needed to get to Riley and not die by her father's rage.
The second we pulled into Liam's territory I perked up to look around. Everything seemed to be order. No burning buildings or bloody people.
"Is Demetrius here?" I asked softly, hoping it didn't anger him. Jeremiah responded only with a growl. My fist tightened on my lap. I needed to know what was happening. Was Liam alive? Was Riley safe? Who took Claire and why?
