Liam POV

We pulled in front of our pack house and left the car with a clear rift between us. It was never good to be at odds when trying to outsmart Demetrius. I knew it no longer matter though. I felt like every trick I played to win a small victory with the Alpha Lycan was only because he let me. I was always his puppet and I knew I always would be.

"You killed their entire family!" I said the second I saw his face, desperately holding Maverick back from barring his teeth. Most of the time my wolf bowed to Demetrius, and even now in my immense anger I still felt him wanting to.

When Demetrius ruthlessly killed or stomped his boot of tyranny on others, my wolf felt like he was split in two. One, the loyal servant of something more powerful, and the other, a faithful leader to those that needed it. The tug of war at how to act inside me ripped at my insides in so much pain it was impossible to think straight.

"I did! I enjoyed it too." He grunted as he looked to the sky like he was remembering how only this morning he raped and murdered probably hundreds of people.

"Whatever betrayal Danny did to you should have been handled directly with him." I snarled.

I wouldn't of care if he tortured that little Alpha, parade him around naked, or even fucked in front of all his pack before killing him. Danny was an idiot to defy him. His family, those children barely of age, they didn't deserve how he violated them.

"An Alpha's greatest pride is his pack and family. To properly teach others to remain in line, I must send a brutal message of the lengths I will go to have my laws upheld. For example." He paused a moment and looked me directly in the eyes.

"If you were to lie to me, deceive me, break my rule about revealing our kind to humans. If you were to be so foolish to make such a mistake, such a betrayal to me. I bet after seeing all the chaos I will cause not only you, but your pack, and those you revere as family, I bet you would think twice. Do you understand why my punishment must be as it is?"

"Claire?" I took a deep breath as Linsey held the girl with a protective arm around her chest.

"I'm sorry Alpha. We returned home and Demetrius was already here. He hasn't harmed her." Lindsey spoke with tears and a shaky breath. Demetrius stepped to her and she took a step back, clutching the girl in her arms.

"If I want the girl, I will take the girl." He looked to Lindsey like he was planning her death.

"Of course, Alpha." Lindsey removed her arm from around the girl's chest. She knew if she tried to protect her it would only bring her death and Demetrius would have her anyways.

"Come here daughter." He said with a sinister smile.

"You don't love me." Claire shook her head. Her little voice sounded so innocent and riddled with pain. Little brown curls moved from side to side around her small face.

"No, I don't. You are an abomination and nothing more. You serve me no purpose other than to cause a mess I will undoubtedly have to clean up. For now, you keep my Alpha doing as I wish though. Go to your Alpha, child."

Claire ran to me as she sobbed. I picked her up the second she was in arms reach and took a breath she was safe in my arms. I knew I couldn't care for her. If Demetrius didn't kill her, then she would bring it to herself when her hybrid became too out of control. Still, I couldn't help but feel relieved she was ok.

"Go with Brandon, Claire. Do as he says and stay away from here." I whispered in her ear, but knew all could hear me.

"He will harm her. Protect her." She demanded. I knew who she was referring to and feared I didn't have the power to stop Demetrius from doing anything he wanted.
