Brandon POV

I walked beside Barry with Sophia in his arms and Dylan next to me. The five boys locked up with Dylan shouted at us for being liars and hybrid loving traders. We are going to need to leave them down here for a little while.

We stood outside the pack house with swarms of people around us. The crowd looked pissed, and they continue to throw stuff at us. Barry had put Sophia down to stand on her own two feet, but she wasn't doing too well.

"I got her!" Dylan put his arm around her waist. Sophia's brown eyes looked up to him thankfully. I think knowing he forgave her was enough for her to die peacefully. I wanted her to have more out of life though. This wasn't fair.

Dylan stood in front of us, holding Sophia at his side. Barry was filled with anger, fist tight at his side, and black eyes of death to Dylan. "Let them do this, then we will bring her home." I whispered to my handsome mate, who was about to go on a killing spree.

Dylan stood tall and began speaking. "I'm sorry I acted as I did. I wanted to be stronger for my pack, but when I was afraid I only brought my neighbors more pain. Sophia is my mate and she is a hybrid. We met this morning at the training grounds." He looked to her. "I was drawn to her instantly. We left to have some lunch out by the river together. While we were there things got a little heated between us."

Barry growled out and I had to hold him back. My mate was one strong beast. "Relax! We know they didn't mate, but she is plenty old enough too." I rolled my eyes at his overbearing protection. Barry looked to me like I was about to die, and I smiled at his handsome demonic face.

Dylan cleared his throat and looked back out to his pack. "I asked Sophia to mark me. I was caught up in the moment and we both lost control. Once she did, I regretted it because she was a hybrid. Sophia didn't force her mark on me and she has now accepted my rejection. I ask all of you to please stop fighting among the packs. We have greater dangers only days away that we need to prepare for."

"She should be locked up. We can't trust hybrids." Someone shouted.

"Sophia can barely stand on her own. The rejection will take days for her to recover from. With war so close I requested for her to be watched over by her family. At this point she poses no threat to any of us. Once she regains her strength her punishment will be dealt out by our new Alpha Liam."

"He's not our Alpha!"

"We won't be a part of a pack that protects abominations."

"This is his war, not ours!"

More and more people shouted.

"This is our war. Our former Alpha defied Demetrius by working with the humans. Half our members were slaughter because of Danny's betrayal. Alpha Liam is only trying to help us. If we fight him, not only will Alpha Liam beat us, but those that survive will be killed for defying Demetrius. We don't have to like these terms, but if we want to move on from all this we need to unite as one pack."

The crowd grew quieter. Some still muttered words of betrayal for Dylan speaking so lowly of Danny and of letting a hybrid live. The rage among the mob of people was simmering out though.

"Go home and rest. It's late and we need to pick up the training first thing in the morning. Alpha Liam's pack will join us tomorrow too. We will be ready if we can put aside our differences and find a way to all work together." I said out to the pack. People began dispersing, still mumbling their dislike of myself and pack.

"I think that's the best we are going to get for now." I turned to Barry and he was just seething in anger. He loved his sister beyond words and would kill anyone that referred to her as an abomination. That wasn't the fight for today though.

"I'm taking her home." Barry snatched Sophia into his arms.

"Can I stay with her?" Dylan asked, looking to the ground.

"Never!" Barry spit out.

"I feel stronger with him close. We will never be mates, but let me be close to him for now."

"This is his fault, Sophia."

"It is my fault. You need to accept that, Barry. Let him come." She said, leaning her head to his shoulder. The exhaustion was clear in her voice.

"Fine!" Barry spit out then turned and walked away from us.

I shook my head at my tense mate, so tangled with grief and anger. There was never a mood of his that wouldn't get me all excited inside.

"You seem happy about all this." Dylan said walking next to me.

"I definitely am not happy about any of this. I love my mate though." My eyes checked out Barry's ass as he stomped away from us.

"You and Barry? I kind of figured, but wasn't sure."

"Yeah, me and Barry. We are fated too. It feels amazing being completely connected to another. Especially when he is as sexy as that man."

"I guess. I would think it feels more like trapped. How can you ever fully trust someone like that?"

"I don't know. It's freeing I guess. To just give into another person. To let them own every part of you like you are only meant for them. It is damn sure amazing to feel like someone else belongs only to you too. I will treasure every second I get to own that beast right there."

Dylan looked between us not understanding how I felt. "The second I felt her mark... it terrified me. Her dark purple eyes put me in some trance. It was like I couldn't think for myself anymore. At first, I wanted to run, then she grabbed me and ripped right through my neck.

She broke down crying. This sweet, beautiful girl, mouth full of blood cried in front of me, and I wanted to comfort her. Then the second she ran from me it was like a veil lifted from my eyes. I still wanted her, but the stronger my need became for her, the more pissed I was she had that kind of control over me. I swear I didn't want her to die though. I know I said I did, but it was just my anger. I guess my need to deny her was too overwhelming to let myself accept us."

"What's done is done, Dylan. Sophia should had never stopped taking her herbs. She knew the danger it put all of us in. She isn't going to die either. Star will be here soon and she will know of a way to save her. Maybe we can separate her Fairy completely from her soul."

"Is that possible?"

"It definitely is, but I'm not sure she will be strong enough to survive the spell. Plus, we can't just remove it completely. Her spirit needs to be contained somewhere. Star will know better than any of us though."

"Sophia looks so weak. Will she even survive until Star makes it here?"

"She better, or else I'll be helping my mate bury you out back our house." My hand tapped his shoulder and I jogged up the porch of our house we been staying at.
