Ch. 64 - Reunited

Riley POV

After our little sexscapade out back Jax brought me to bed. I was so overwhelmed with anger, fear, disgust, and disappointment that when I saw Liam starting to bend to us, I just needed him. I hoped he would finally cave to us, but I knew he wouldn't.

I didn't want to let him go. After seeing how he so quickly caved to Demetrius I knew I had too. It hurt watching Liam so easily believe his own lies. We would never be happy as lovers in secret. It would feel good when we were together, but after, it would leave a sour taste in our mouth. Like it did now.

"You need to sleep, beautiful. You're exhausted." Jax laid next to me with an arm around my waist. My back was snuggled closely to his front and I felt his comfort.

"Whose fault is that?" I giggled, then sighed as my eyes fluttered. I was too tired to laugh.

"Mm, I could argue it was yours. This delicious body calling us to you day and night." His voice was husky as his lips danced over my shoulder. He felt amazing on my skin, sending tingles of pleasure wherever he touched me. Liam did too, but it was different.

"He won't ever choose us, Jax. Not unless we kill Demetrius. He will mark Lindsey in two days."

"I don't want to talk about it." I could hear him clench his jaw.

"Me either, but we need to. You both keep trying to buy time. It doesn't work that way though. Would you really reject him? I need to know what our future is."

"Yes!" He said with no room for any denial.

"If you reject him, will we leave? What happens to us?"

I turned slightly to see his eyes. I knew this was hard for him, but we needed to talk about it. We had two days left to prepare.

"We will take over Danny's pack. I'm rightfully an Alpha. We will mate under the silver moon and I will remark you. You will get a wolf and be my Luna. I think we should still fake your death too. You can stay hidden for just a short while, then I'll bring home a werewolf as my new mate. It could work." He spoke softly, as if his plan deeply pained him.

"Can we bring Claire with us? Would Liam let her go?"

"I don't know, but we can try. Liam wouldn't be the obstacle, Demetrius would. If we leave and start over, we can't attract his attention."

"I understand. Maybe Claire can go to this coven for a few months. After I give birth and come back from the dead, we can steal her back and hide her. Freya can glamour her, like she did to me."

"We can try." He said with sadness in his voice. I knew it was thoughts of leaving Liam that hurt him.

"If you want to stay or go, love him or reject him, I will stand by your side, Jax. I don't want you to be in pain."

"Do you want to stay with Liam, even if he marks Lindsey?"

"No, but I can if you want to. My love and devotion is to you. Always for you, Jax. I won't hate you or think you are weak if you can't let him go. I just want you to know that. You don't have to do this for me. I'm happy with you, and I'm happy when you're happy."

"I love Liam. I'll always love him, but it's different." He paused, looking over my face. "With you it feels real, it feels powerful and everything I need. If he won't choose us then we won't choose him. It will hurt walking away, but I wouldn't regret it. You are my life, Riley. You are my mate." He kissed my lips sweetly. "Please sleep now. I want to make you happy and provide everything you need. I know you need sleep."

"Ok. For you, I will force myself to sleep." I gave him a lazy smile as I closed my eyes. God, I was so exhausted.

"That's my girl." He chuckled.
