Liam POV
"Nice of you to finally join us." I glared at my Beta holding Riley's waist like she were glass. I wanted him protecting her, but I couldn't let him get too attached either. Riley's life would be short lived.
"I see you got her the herbs needed. We need to take her for an exam in an hour." I didn't like how faint my scent was on her. It needed to be this way for my child though.
"An exam?" Riley shot her eyes wide to me.
"Yes, I want to know the truth before we take this any further." I glared at her. This better not be some trick or I swear she will be nothing but a slave to me.
Lindsey walked in wearing a sexy white dress and tall silhouette heels. She was a nice presence to have in the pack and would fit nicely as my Luna. I just needed Jax to wake up and realize the truth of what we can have in this world.
"Exam? For a hu.." Lindsey caught herself. "For this girl?" She asked curiously. We never had humans in the pack house before.
"She is a human that knows of our kind. She will be a prisoner here until I figure out what to do with her. Maybe you could help her be more pleasant." I smiled to Lindsey and she gave me a bow.
"Of course, Alpha. A human will be fun." She looked to Riley with a devious glint in her eyes. I had no idea what was running through her head. She was a strange woman I hadn't quite figured out.
"She will be under my care. I'm sure you can find better things for Lindsey to attend to." Jax growled and I instantly rose.
"Careful Beta. She may be your Luna one day." I challenged him. He needed to start wrapping his head around what was best for all of us.
Riley shrunk into Jax's chest in fear of Maverick coming forward. He wanted to protect her too, but I wasn't letting him. He can't get attached to her either.
"That would be impossible. We both know I will leave you for good if you ever did that to our pack." His wolf was forward now and the tension was clear in the air. He would dare challenge me in front of anyone!
I opened my mind-link to him. 'You would leave our child?" I smirked, knowing I had Jax at my side for the rest of my life whether he wanted to or not. We were mates and my child was his. He would never abandoned him.
"Don't test me, Liam!" He warned then shook his wolf back. "Let's sit and eat." He smiled to Riley, guiding her to a chair and she looked like she wanted to run for her life.
"I really just want to go home. I don't belong here." She pleaded to Jax and I swear his wolf whined in sadness for her. This was going to be fucking hell until my child was born. I could barely handle my pack's emotions. What was I going to do with a human?
"I said you can't leave, so drop it." I ordered her and grabbed some food.
We sat quietly around the table as a few other pack members joined us. My house was open to any and there were a few kids that prefer to be here then at home.
"May I sit and have breakfast, Alpha." Claire stood at my side with her hands folded in front of her.
"I don't care what you do. Just don't cause any trouble, little witch." I glared at her too and for some reason she gave me a smile. I guess growing up with the Alpha Lycan as your father not much scared the little witch.
"Claire, come sit with me. I would like you to meet my girlfriend, Riley." Jax called to the little girl.
Riley looked wide eyed to him as he called her girlfriend, but she didn't say a word. Riley was a mess of emotions. He body slightly trembled and her eyes tried to hold confidence. She didn't want to cower down to use, but she was fucking terrified.
"You are very pretty Ms." Her little hands went straight to her belly. "Your child will be very powerful. Jax will be a perfect father." The little girl gave me an evil stare then sat down with a smile. I was surrounded by fucking weirdos.
"Jax?" Lindsey dropped her fork as everyone stared at the human sitting with us.
"I said not to cause any trouble." I growled at Claire.
"I was helping you, Alpha." She winked at me and continued eating. How the fuck did she think that was helping me?
"Is it true? It can't be. She is human." Lindsey watched Riley like she was some alien.
I growled again then thought it over. It would be hard to hide her pregnancy. Jax being the father would help protect her, but take the tension off me. I looked curiously at the little girl. How did she know?
"Yes, it is true. I think it is at least. She will be examined later and we see if this is real or magic. For now, she will remain at our pack house and we will treat her as one of our own, as she may be carrying one of our own." I smiled, looking to her stomach.
I really wanted my son to be growing inside her. I was afraid of what he would be or if I could even keep him, but the idea of having a child made me fill with so much pride.
"Magic? You have to be kidding me. You know it is true." Jax scuffed at me. I was growing tired of his mouth. A mouth that could serve me in much better ways.
"We see." Is all I said then finished my food.
The table was quite, trying to digest the possibility of a human caring a pup. Everyone except the little girl. She asked Riley a thousand questions. The way Riley and Jax acted with the child they looked like a family. It was making my wolf jealous they seemed to have this connection that didn't include myself. I was the Alpha.
"Let's go!" I ordered, abruptly standing from the table.
"Lindsey, do something with this child. She is getting on my nerves."
"Of course, Alpha. Let's go, little witch." She pushed hers hands up telling the child to move.
"Why are you so mean to that little girl?" Riley looked at me with disgust.
"She is a hybrid and very dangerous. Don't get too attached. She can kill your with a simple flick of her wrist." I said as we walked to the car.
"That is ridiculous. She is a small child." Riley had annoyance in her tone. She looked to Jax and he opened and closed his mouth. He knew hybrids were dangerous creatures.
"She could be dangerous. We don't know for sure, but until then, Riley is right. We should show her kindness." He looked to me in disapproval.
"Taking little Red's side over your Alpha's. Be careful Beta." I warned him as he bent to get in the car. I checked out his ass, growing irritated I was denied so much.
"I will take Riley's side when she is right. I would take your side more, but you are rarely right."
I growled at him, looking out the window. I had enough of these too. Jax will regret ever letting her close to him when he realizes she won't live to see our son born, if she is even pregnant. Fuck the goddess, this was frustrating.
