Liam POV

I felt the limbs of the trees shake with their footsteps and smiled. I felt useless when Riley's wolf was taken from my soul. My strength was more than cut in half and I thought I lost the only people I ever wanted.

Today, I was an Alpha with two mates. One half dead and the other a feisty ass Lycan. Our daughter was out there waiting for us too. Today, I wasn't losing, none us were.

Maverick shot forward in agreement to my determination. My muscles hardened, growing with my bones to become my full wolf.

"Don't get cocky, Maverick." Jax smiled from the tree next to me.

"I don't know how else to be. You'll still love me though."

"I'd rather love you alive than dead. Watch yourself."

"You too. Stay in the trees, Jax. I got any below that try to attack."

"I'm fine, Liam. Stop worrying about me."

"You're not fine. You look like shit too."

"You look like a monster."

"A sexy monster." I licked my canines staring at his mark. I can't believe he asked me marked him.

"Yes, but we haven't settled everything between us."

"I know." I looked away feeling his disappointment with me. Jax always loved me, but he was also always let down when I didn't show him the same love back. "Let's finish this so I can start making it up to you." I winked at him and jumped below.

"Maverick!" He growled at me.

We were supposed to pick them off from the trees, but I needed to protect Jax. I doubt he could take out one werewolf with how he looked right now. I hoped Riley and I marking him would had made him stronger, but it didn't seem to have much of an effect on him.

"I got us down here. You watch my back up there." I said in our mind link. My head tipped back to let out a warning howl. I was ready for them.

Swarms of men and women ran through the woods at us. Arrows flew from every direction and wolf on wolf fought to the death. The Lycans just rushed through like my pack was little annoying ants swatting swords and silver tipped arrows at them. We were able to overpower a few, even killed some, but they were on a mission. Jax and I knew exactly who they wanted too.

Once we thinned the enemies around us, Jax and I headed to Riley. I kept in contact with her through our mind link, but I didn't feel right not being able to see her. I knew she had the strength to take all the Lycans down, but she never fought before. One wrong turn and her heart would be ripped from her chest, or head severed from her body.

"Not so bad." Jax winced in pain walking beside me.

"Fuck! You're hit!" I grabbed at his shoulder to check out the wound. A damn arrow too. One of our own needed to work on their aim.

"I'm fine. I want Riley!" He demanded and walked forward.

"Me too! We know she is ok."

"Have you heard from her?"

"Yes, of course. I just told her how sexy her ass is." I smiled.

Jax rolled his eyes at me. I actually said it to the both of them, but only Riley responded.

"You can't hear me?"

"I haven't been able to link to anyone other than you for a few hours now. I think it was stronger because we are so close and your mark."

"What the fuck, Jax! Why didn't you tell me earlier."

"I wasn't sure at first, then we were attacked. It's fine though."
