Sundew and Cricket stared back at Widow, who was shooting them both a sadistic violet grin.

Widow laughed.
"Why the long faces? I thought you would've been happy to see me again..."
An echo of Blue's voice radiated from the shadow, yet instead of providing that warm and happy sensation as it usually did, it was the opposite.

Widow's voice pierced through Cricket and Sundew's scales like an icicle.
Shivers crawled along their bodies as a sudden chill made itself known, even though it wasn't that cold.

The wind silenced itself, the clouds shifted overhead to suppress the light of the moons, and Widow's face glowed ever so brighter.
"So tell me... Why are you two of all dragons out here? Alone?" He shot them a devilish smirk. "Already moving on from your dead mates?"

Both Sundew and Cricket's eyes widened; Sundew tensed up while Cricket bared her teeth menacingly, even going as far as to dangerously display her new stinger.
"What did you just say...?"

Cricket's tone was menacing, her voice dug down into the bottom of her chest before emerging as a Dangerous growl.
Sundew visibly tensed up even more upon hearing Cricket's voice deepen way past her usual nerdy and cheery self.

Widow laughed at Cricket condescendingly.
"Awh, did I strike a nerve there?" He moved closer until he was maybe just a tad bit out of Cricket's potential striking distance.
His smile distorted and made a sort of static cracking sound as it did so.
"You heard me loud and clear..."

"WHY YOU LITTLE!"
Cricket lunged at Widow without a second thought. Her claws and stingers were outstretched, ready to stab anything in their way.

Of course, Cricket phased right through Widow's shadowy body.
A few stray black particles shot out from his back as Cricket phased through, but soon returned and merged back as if nothing had happened.

Widow smiled amusingly.
"You have no power here, but please, do keep trying... It's fun to watch you both struggle..."
He turned back to look at Sundew, who was slowly but surely getting herself back up again, though her strength was clearly faltering.

Sundew groaned. She lifted her head with some difficulty but managed to do so before eyeing Widow with a murderous glare.
"S-Shut... Up!" She yelled with a voice that reeked of pain.

Slowly, Sundew gathered herself into a standing position. Her wing was still broken, and her bruises only seemed to have gotten worse, yet she stood tall despite the pain.
"No power here..." Sundew spat.
"Big talk for someone who's also on a leash..."

Widow's smile faded slightly, and his eyes narrowed.
"I am on no leash..."

"Then why are you here? You were sent to find us, no doubt," Sundew spat with a distasteful tone.

"Maybe so, but that doesn't mean I have to relay what I find back... In fact... I don't have to tell that idiot anything... That is, as long as you give me a reason not to..."

Sundew made an uneasy face.
"What could I possibly offer you?"

Widow pondered for a brief moment, pacing back and forth whilst eyeing Sundew up and down.
Eventually, his gaze focused on one of Sundew's claws.
He smiled sadistically.
"That," he pointed at Sundew's claw.

Sundew looked confused as she looked down; however, her face drained in colour the second she realised what had caught Widow's attention.

Around one of Sundew's claws was the engagement ring that she had given to Willow before her untimely death.
