Sorrow

"Sundew, please!" Tamarin cried.
"This isn't helping!"

Sundew was curled up on the ground, she refused to move from it.
Her leaf-shaped wings covered her head and the front of her body as she sobbed loudly.

Tamarin tried to get through to her, but nothing was working.
Every time she spoke, Sundew's wings would visibly shrink closer to her body and tighten up.

Tamarin looked up in defeat before turning to Anemone.
"Anemone! Help me out here!" She cried, though the Seawing princess didn't respond.

Anemone was staring at where the portal used to be.
Her eyes were teary, and she could barely muster up the strength to speak.
"T... Turtle..." She said in a faint and saddened voice.

Upon realising Anemone was of no use at the moment.
Tamarin switched her attention to anyone else who would be willing to help calm the mood... But it seemed that almost everyone was in the same case as Sundew.

Hailstorm was perched up on a small rock, clutching his head sorrowfully as tears streamed down his face.

Ostrich lay on the ground below Hailstorm as she sniffled.
She had her tail curled around her head with her face buried towards her body so she could hide from the world.

Moon was sitting nearby; she wasn't crying, but she was far from happy or anything close to it.
Her eyes were saddened, but refused to let out emotion while the tip of her tail swayed from side to side uneasily as a sort of coping mechanism.

Luna, Swordtail, and Io were somewhere close together.
Luna had a face of despair and immense emotional pain while Swordtail and Io tried to comfort her.
They sat on either side of her, both with saddened faces, but nothing close to how everyone else was feeling.

However, the worst of the bunch was by far Cricket and Kori, who had already cried so many tears their eyes were bloodshot and dried up.

Cricket was lying on her back, talons pressed against her face as a saddened dribble of spit made its way down the side of her cheek.
She couldn't stop sobbing, even when there were no more tears left; she continued to cry.
Her chest jolted up and down more than usual, but despite this, she couldn't bring herself to calm down.

Kori was just as bad if not worse.
Similar to Cricket, she also had no tears left to cry.
Her faucet had run dry, but her heart was still visibly broken beyond belief, though it wasn't like anyone could blame her.

After all, everyone here had just witnessed at least one, if not more of their friends and lovers, get slaughtered right in front of them.
Well... Almost everyone.

Star was an exception to an extent. She'd grown close with the team, most of whom were now dead.
But unlike everyone else, she wasn't as upset; she still cried for a moment but was one of the few, -along with Tamarin and the remaining queens- to fully gather themselves.

Star walked over to Tamarin, who looked defeated in attempting to calm everyone down.
"Hey... You alright?"

Tamarin looked at her before nodding sadly.
"Yeah... It's just that I can't stand everyone like this..."

Star sighed, "I reckon we should just give them some space..."

Tamarin looked at Star with a surprised expression.
"What, no! Look, I know this is a tough time for all of us, but we need to get a move on."

Star raised a slightly aggravated brow.
"Where exactly?"

Tamarin paused before letting out a sigh. "Look, I don't know alright... But we shouldn't stay here, in the middle of nowhere, though we can't go anywhere if everyone's like this!"
