"And that's the whole story... Everything." Daniel concluded as he finished catching everyone up on his whole Wings of Fire journey to date, even asking Ruin to include his past with Barren and the others.
Finally, after what felt like forever, Daniel let out a sigh.
"Any questions?"
Everyone looked at Daniel with mixed expressions.
Some were shocked, some were saddened, some worried, though Moon and Star seemed somewhat neutral.
'Likely because they already knew most of my story'
Daniel looked at everyone expectantly but received only silence.
He raised a brow.
"Really?! No questions at all?"
Hailstorm shrugged.
"What's there to ask? You said everything, didn't you?"
He spoke with a hint of sorrow, though Daniel couldn't tell why exactly.
Daniel made a face.
"Well, yeah... But that doesn't mean you wouldn't have questions?"
Hazel piped up next.
"Well... Everything you said just... Checks out," She looked up at him sadly.
"So there's nothing to really ask about."
Daniel frowned slightly, picking up on Hazel's tone of sadness
He looked between everyone once more, noticing that every dragon in the room had a hint of sorrow to their expression, or at least that's what it looked like.
Daniel looked between them all once more.
"Are you guys alright..?"
Sundew rubbed her eye slightly.
"We're fine, why?"
"N-Nothing... Just that you all looked a bit sad," Daniel pointed out.
A silence fell upon them all before Ostrich spoke up.
"W-Well... The story you told us wasn't exactly... Happy..." She paused for a moment.
"And we've been listening to you speak long enough for night to settle", Anemone added. gesturing to the outdoors.
Daniel turned his head around to see a dark, gloomy, windy and cloudy night sky.
No stars were out, and the glow of the moons was much darker than usual.
Daniel turned back to the group just as Ostrich looked him in the eyes before speaking up in a gentle whisper.
"Did you really go through all of that?"
Daniel's eyes widened slightly as the gears in his brain started to turn.
It was true, his story wasn't exactly joyful; in fact, it was kind of the opposite: dark, depressing, and scary... It was no wonder others felt that way when they heard it.
Yet, Daniel didn't feel a thing; he simply said it as normal, as if everything he's been through wasn't traumatic in some way.
'Likely cause part of my soul is gone thanks to Animi...' He thought glumly, but pushed it aside.
"Well... Yeah, I did go through that," Daniel confirmed, "but it wasn't that ba-"
"It sounds worse than what my parents did to me."Hailstorm interrupted.
"Or growing up in the Scorpion Den," Ostrich added.
"Or living in a Jungle where everything wants to kill you," Sundew concluded.
The room fell silent once again before Tamarin spoke up.
"Daniel... What you just told us... That weight you've been carrying ever since you got here... All while just wanting to find a way back home..." She paused.
"That's not something anyone here can relate to, regardless of how much we've been through in our lives..."
Daniel rolled his eyes.
"Oh come on, you're just trying to make me feel better, it's really nothing-"
"Daniel, you watched almost all of your friends, plus your sister, get slaughtered right in front of you." Kori pointed out.
