Their mother had led Goro upstairs, to their room. When standing in front of it she left shortly after, though not before wishing him good luck to reason with them. Where she went was anyone’s guess but it was most likely to rest. She needed it form the looks of it so he didn’t plan on disturbing her any further from such plans.
He looked at the door, first just staring at it. Something held him back, at least a little bit. He could knock but what would he do right after? He didn’t know. He had never done something like this, not sincerely at least. Not just that but he first had to figure out what was going on, why they were acting up like that. But how would he do that to begin with? Come to think of it, there was so much he didn’t know… What was he supposed to do once acquiring the information anyways? Even once he had gotten it. He really didn’t think this through, did he? Then again, standing here like an awkward stick figure was not going to help his case either.
So he decided to knock on the door. At first he had gotten no response. So out of instinct he knocked again. Once more, no response. And then he did it one last time. Still nothing. He sighed, the silence unsettling. He didn’t want to do this, just barging in like that. Yet they didn’t seem to leave him any choice, did they?
Hence why one of his hands pushed the doorknob down, the door a little backwards, opening it and then… About to step into their room yet he at first looked right in it. He was trying to make out what it was yet it was pitch black. The curtains had been fully shoved in front of the window, making it probably all black when the door was closed.
The light from the hallway at least shone through though introducing him to an utter mess. It wasn’t just papers lying on the floor though, no. Also some books, pencils, clothes and even boxes. There was no pattern, it was all just thrown into the room, leaving it there for who knows how long. And right in one of the back corners there was a bed, a small hill showing itself, a blanket thrown over it. And next to it sat a black and white cat, a familiar one, his eyes glowing all green despite being in the dark.
After the shock Goro stepped inside, though slowly, his head wandering around to just take in the mess of the room. Never had he ever imagined that their room seemed to be that messy. They really had to tidy it up and yet that was only in the back of his mind. He had other things to attend to after all. Especially now.
He got closer to the bed, coming face to face with the cat who had his head tilted up to stare at Goro with those wide, green eyes. Yet it was a mere observation. Oddly enough, there was no hostility whatsoever. At least as far as he could tell. Yet the guy didn’t even dare to poke them, in case the cat would swat and scratch without hesitation. After all, if he knew one thing it was that Ole could get very overprotective over Lukanja. He had seen so himself.
So, he had to try again. Though this time with his voice, and not too loud. “Lukanja?” He began, asking somewhat. However, there was no response, even as he waited. This only led him to continue talking. “What happened? You’ve been in here for who knows how long. Everyone is getting worried. Is everything–”
“Don't come any closer!” They interrupted him, making him go all silent from one moment to the next. They didn’t show up from beneath the blanket however, only yelling at him from there.
The outburst should not have been surprising yet it was, making him take a small step backwards. He didn’t know what to say, it froze him in an instant and he was just staring at the hill of a blanket. He didn’t get a word out, only letting them continue to talk.
“I… I am awful… I am one of the worst.” They said, nearly mumbled. Only to yell right after. “Just… Just go away!”
“Is it because of the Palace? That–” He wanted to say, voicing the suspicion he had. After all, it happened when they were within the Palace and had blacked out. It only made sense.
“Get out already!” The finally nail in the coffin, them yelling this out loud. All while not facing him. He really didn’t know what to do, what to say. He wanted to get it out of his mouth, stay here and talk.
However, he would be stopped right after when feeling something poke one of his feet. He lowered his head, then seeing Ole right there, pawing Goro’s shoe constantly while looking up at him. It was silent yet said it all with one simple action. ‘ Leave them. ’ Only then to back off shortly after and walk right past him, tapping to the door. The cat stopped there however, tilting his head backwards as he was eyeing the human. ‘ We can talk somewhere else. ’ And he then headed out of the room, probably expecting Goro to follow.
