For a child of a massive CEO, you were nothing. You were seen as nothing, treated as nothing, ignored like nothing.

All because you didn't live up to your father's legacy.

You were the Ultimate Author.

Apparently that was disgraceful for a Togami. There's no way it was that bad, it was a profession that can get you money if your book is widespread enough.

When you were notified that you had incredible talent in writing, Byakuya was less than thrilled. You were meant to have more talent than writing, more talent than writing a bunch of fancy words on a page and calling it a day.

Even everyone at school thought it was pathetic, for you at least. Every other person who expressed an interest in writing was encouraged to continue; you were made fun of for wanting to do something besides follow in your father's footsteps.

It was alright, you've only got a bit more of school to go through before you can be free, before you could stop caring that you were a weakling in a society with great expectations.

                                       *  *  *

Your room was dim, faint light seeping in through the curtain sides. You sat up on your bed, sitting still in front of Toko as she braided your hair. You had your knees up to your chest, hearing the drops of rain contribute to a melancholy morning,

".. Toko?"

You spent so long around her, so much of your life was dependent on her: a socially awkward mess, who barely even took care of herself.

"W-what?"

Even with her increasingly cold replies, she always had a space in your heart. No matter the situation, she was there, making sure you were safe or okay.

"Do you care that.. I don't have a talent like father did..?"

You barely noticed yourself failing to breathe, as you patiently waited for an answer from her. You knew she probably had high values of having a talent, she was a student of Hope's Peak Academy after all.

You didn't get a response immediately, but could still feel the little tugs on your hair as she continued braiding your hair like an automated machine,

".. No. Why s-should I?"

She said.

You breathed in, feeling a tug on your hair as Toko used a bobble on the end of your braid. She carefully pushed it in front of your shoulder, mumbling incoherently behind you. She stood up, like a drone, picking up your school bag,"Well.. Father doesn't like that I'm a writer.." You said, extending your legs out.

Toko brought the bag over, checking through it,"And.. I think it makes him really angry.." You muttered, looking into the bag yourself. Nothing special was in there, just a few things that your school required you to bring.

"It's not bad.. Right?" You asked your caretaker, watching her avoid eye contact while pushing her glasses up.

"W-why would you ask m-me?"

".. You were the ultimate writing prodigy, right..?" You reached out for your bag, lightly brushing against Toko's hand. She flinched back, bringing her hand away from you,

"Yeah.. Right now it d-doesn't mean anything.."

Toko replied bluntly, seemingly agitated.

"But it does.. You're good at it, you should do something with it!" You exclaimed, closing up the bag for yourself, pulling it away from Toko and her angry hands,"Haven't you been paid for publishing your books?" You pushed her to answer, looking at her innocently.
