Yet No Fool Would Be So Wise To

I could plot to control the world,

and yet there's something I'd even then want more.

I could receive every praise,

and every prize there ever was,

yet there is one prize,

that I'd behold before all the rest.

There is only one thing,

that I with more longing have,

than any other foul, wretched,

desire that I cling to.

I want you to be mine.

There I said it, now do you believe me?

Yes, I love you.

Will you NOW come to see me,

after I've begged?

After I've requested?

After I've cajoled?

After I've pleaded?

After I've sliced my heart open for you,

revealed the hidden thoughts of my mind,

And yet you'd still

leave me alone.

It is a foolish thing,

to want you so bad as I do,

yet no fool

would be so wise to.

Am I the fool

or are all of you?
