One lie

just one lie

just one denial

It will save me

a whole lot of pain

if I ever should experience

the asking

of the one question

The one lie

is the one truth

everyone wants to

cling to

the lie I once thought

was my truth too

no more.

Just...

no more.

One lie

just...to speak

one lie

could save my life

But I could

never shame

my new family.

So I will have

to tell the truth.
