Remember Me

Do you remember

the fun we used to have?

Your laugh,

MY laugh,

combined.

Only silence fills my heart

leaves it longing for those days.

You'd hug me.

You'd call out my name.

You saw me for who I am.

There are no more texts.

You got what you wanted from me.

Now what?

Now what do I have to offer you?

Nothing. And without anything to buy your words, you are silent.

I tried to promise myself I wouldn't text anyone first anymore,

too many unanswered shots in the dark.

I broke that most often for you.

As I sit here,

silently waiting for that blessed tune,

I realize it won't come.

Maybe you won't forget me,

but I know you can't be counted on to remember.
