Jeremy
I opened my eyes and felt the warmth of the sun on my face. I closed my eyes again and covered my head with a pillow.
Darn... I'm freaking tired. Why do I have to work on a Saturday? And I'm actually working for my mom. Just how lame is that? I don't want to get up...
"Jeremy! It's noon already! Get your lazy butt out here!" I heard my mom call out.
"I'm already awake!" I yelled back.
I turned and lied on my stomach. "Just ten more minutes Mom..." I grumbled, although I don't think she can hear me.
"Jem!" She yelled again. "You have to make deliveries!"
Darn... Why do I have to deliver those stupid cakes? And why the heck do people order sweets? They're all carbs and sugar.
And if they really want to eat some, then why don't they come here? What's the point of having a shop when most customers don't come anyway? Why don't we just turn this into an online business?
"Jem! Don't make me drag you to the kitchen!" Mom yelled again.
Annoyed, I sat up and threw my pillow. It hit my cabinet and knocked over a few things— including framed photos.
Oh shit! Why the hell am I having such a bad day!
I got up and went downstairs without even washing my face. Si Mom lang naman ang nasa bahay. Why do I have to— Whoa... Wait... I forgot that Amber's working here.
I went upstairs again, washed up, brushed my teeth and changed my clothes. I don't want to look idiotic in front of Amber. She'd tease me all day.
I went downstairs and walked inside the kitchen. I wonder what Amber is doing...
She's my only source of entertainment here.
I found Amber in her work area— a tall table near the sink. She was kneading a huge lump of dough.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Tanong ko.
She did not respond.
"Hey..." I gave her shoulder a pat. "Amber, ano bang problema mo—" I was surprised when I saw her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
Her face was all red and tear-stained and she's crying continuously.
"What's wrong?" I asked again.
She cried even more.
"Ano ba? Your snot might get into the dough." I told her.
She punched my shoulder lightly. "Kasi..." She mumbled.
"Ano bang problema mo?" I asked her.
"I'm alright."
"I did not ask if you're alright. I asked what you're problem is." I said sternly.
Am I stupid? Alam kong she's NOT alright. That was why I was asking about her problem.
"Tristan—"
"A, si Tristan ba?" I asked before turning and walking towards the door.
"Hoy, san ka pupunta?" Tanong niya.
I faced her and said. "I'm going to find Tristan."
"Baliw ka ba?" She shook off the flour in her hands and walked closer to me.
"I'm going to beat him up for you."
"Hindi mo pa nga alam kung anong nangyari e." She reasoned out.
"I don't have to know the whole story. He made you cry." I told her.
