I woke at the sound of my alarm and felt a little piece of me die inside at the idea of having to leave my bed.
Groaning I stopped the alarm and got up to shower to rid me of the smell of alcohol. It's alright working in a bar but when you smell like one too.. It sends off the wrong impression.
I got out and changed into an off grey chiffon top with black pants. I longed to wear a dress into work in the Vegas heat but at the idea of having to check out furniture and possibly lift it or get under it... A dress wasn't quiet suitable.
I grabbed a blueberry muffin and water before headed into work. I hit the usual morning traffic and spend the time with music pumping working my lungs...In other words me and Beyoncé did a duet and by hell we slayed it.
I pulled into work ready for the day, locking up I walked in to see my boss Stephen smiling. He was in his usual attire of light blue shirt and tan pants with a pair of loafers. His hair was almost grey with a few specks of persistent brown hanging on in there.
"Morning." I smiled.
"I could hear you from two blocks over." He teased.
"It's a beautiful day!" I sang putting my bag away. I flicked on the radio putting it on low and got on doing my little jobs.
"Ellen rang earlier." Stephen spoke making me look over to him.
"Uh huh?"
"She got your phone call and will be on later today."
"Good, I've been dying to look at it again." I smiled.
Ellen was one of our top customers, an antique collector herself. I had rang her after falling upon a beautiful.. And I mean beautiful antique writing table. I checked it out, with all its stamps I found out the table was a stickley. They are worth a bomb. I knew I had to ring her and give Ellen first refusal at the very least.
The day was slow but progressive, things got sold and I filled the space to make sure our increasing stock was put out as soon as there was room.
"L-left. Left!" I ordered Clive a in store man. He had a heart of gold but didn't give a flying hoot about damaging things.. I however was!
We set the stickley down, I gave it the once over and smiled pleased.
"You're going to miss that table when it's gone." Stephen spoke.
"I am. I hope Ellen takes it. I'd hate for it to be ruined by some idiot." I replied.
"Were you suggesting clive?" He asked.
"N-no! No that's not what I meant!" I defended myself.
"I'm only teasing. But I agree it needs a good home. Rare to find one in good condition as that."
