So here I was helping my mum out all week and she reserved energy to get me set up with Edward.

As soon as they leave.. And believe me they will, I will be having words with her.

We had been sat in the lounge waiting for dinner, Edward had sat next to me and why? Because when I sat down my dress rose up my legs...

Something my mum didn't bank on, neither did I as I threw her a glare. In the end I placed my hands on my legs after trying to pull the dress down to no avail.

"Maria, I hear you've been to the states?" Beryl asked making me look up.

"Yes. I have been living there."

"What part?"

"Las Vegas Nevada." I replied causing her to almost choke on her camomile tea.

"Doing what may I asked?"

"I work in an antiques store during the day."

"Oh lovely."

"And I work in a bar at night." I added causing her face to drop.

Go on lady.. Pass judgement. I'm ready.

"Hmm impressive, antiques is a hard trade to be in." Mr Lewis began speaking but Mrs Lewis came back for more.

"Our son Edward here has became a successful lawyer, he has great aspiration and hope to run his own firm. Don't you Edward?" She asked.

"Yes mother." He replied.

Yes mother? Mother? If I called my mum mother.. She'd slap my legs. For real.

"Do you have any ambitions Maria?"

The room looked at me.. "Well I always wanted run my own business... I think I could do that, I'm very driven and motivated as well as a hard worker."

"I see. What type of business?"

"Bar or exotic dancing." I replied casually.

This made the religious church goers jaws drop.

"Or something like that." I sighed before looking at my mum who was giving me daggers.

That's for the dress mummy.

My dad began speaking about sport pulling the awkward silence to an end. My mum excused herself to check on dinner and Mrs Lewis decided to give her a hand.

I was left with Clarence clammy hands or Edward as some people know him.

"You look hot tonight Maria." He spoke quietly.

"Excuse me?"

"Oh don't play the innocent. I know you more than you think.. I can tell you're a wild one. I like that." He placed his hand on my knee making me push it away and fake a smile.

I'm going to give him a busted lip he tries that again.

Mrs Lewis came back and began looking around the lounge at my mums decorative taste.

"Would everyone like to come into the dining room?" My mum asked sweetly.

I got up awkwardly to avoid any flashing and hurried after my mum.

"Maria I am so sorry I didn't think it would be that short." She whispered.

"It's okay. Sorry about the whole business thing." I whispered getting the  matches to light candles.
