Let's begin.

I've watched Mark's gameplay of it, and what he chose what for Niko to return the sun.

Now that's just a great emotional slap right at my face because we all know about the possible consequences of returning the sun. Niko is a child. He doesn't know what to do so he asks the god, which is you, the player, for what to do.

AND IF IT ISNT THAT A GUILT-TRIP OF A CHOICE. IT DOESNT MAKE ME FEEL ANY BETTER TO KNOW THAT THE GAME IS AWARE. NIKO IS AWARE, BUT HE IS CONFUSED AND CAN'T ASSOCIATE THESE COMPLEX THINGS BECAUSE HE IS STILL A CHILD.

ALL THESE GODDAMN RESPONSIBILITY PLACED ON HIS SHOULDERS. HE HAS A FAMILY. HE HAS CONSTANT DREAMS OF HIS MOTHER. HE MISSES HIS MOTHER. FOR GOD'S SAKE, HE EVEN STARTED CRYING BACK AT THE CAFE WHEN HE WAS SERVED PANCAKES. AND THAT WAS THE ONLY TIME NIKO EVER CRIED. ONCE. HE CRIED ONCE.

AND TO THINK HE WAS A KID. HE WAS SO FUCKING BRAVE. AND HE. IS. A. CHILD. HE TAKES GREAT SOLACE IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT SOMEONE IS GUIDING HIM, WE, THE PLAYER, THE "GOD" OF THE WORLD HE WAS STUCK IN, IS GUIDING HIM.

fucking hell. the game just took my feels, pampered it, played with it, and suddenly punched at the gut. fuck.

You see, my initial reaction to the choice was "So what, Mark? Niko has a family. He's a child. This world is dying. The spirit of the world even wants to die. Also, to top it all off, this is just a game. This world is just a code. The people are just codes. Choose for Niko to return home."

And that's what suddenly hit me when Mark started to say things like "If I were in Niko's position, I'd do it. Thousands, hell, even millions of lives over one is enough evidence to save this world." and "Also, even if Niko returns home, he will have to carry the guilt of knowing he had just killed an entire world filled with people for the rest of his life, up to his death."

fuck the immersion man. that just had me holding my chest, trying not to scream at the screen out of pure pain, knowing that either choice mark will make, niko will always take the fall.

and his smile when he plugged the bulb in just killed me. AND IT DOESNT HELP THAT THE EPILOGUE DOESNT SHOW WHAT HAPPENED TO NIKO. THAT ONLY GAVE ME THE FACT THAT THE SMILE WAS PROBABLY NIKO'S LAST SMILE.

GOD.

well done, oneshot. you have ruined me, entirely. move over undertale, you fourth wall breaker skrub, oneshot took your "fourth wall breaker" award. and not only that, oneshot had broke the fourth wall so hard it was beyond repair.
