Mrs. Yin eyed Jia Xue, as he packed his things neatly into his travelling bag.
"How long will you be going again, Jia Xue..?" She asked.
"Two weeks, three weeks top, gran.." He answered.
"And that is your clothes for that two or three weeks?" Mrs Yin pointed at the backpack, near Jia Xue.
Jia Xue looked up at his grandmother and smiled, "Yes. Well..I don't like taking too much things with me. It is not comfortable."
"Jia Xue ah.." Mrs Yin came and sat by him on the bed, tears in her eyes. "Forgive your grandmother..For this old lady don't know how to tell you..You have been disguising all your life..Don't you feel lonely, my dear child..?"
Yes, he had build a life on his own. He did not become a complete recluse, because, he did travel and took all the secondary schools and university exams away from home. Even though he studied on his own, he had to take the exams with the other candidates. Still, it was the examination time and it didn't really allow him to develop friendship with anybody. The other students probably never even noticed him because of the way he was dressed.
Yet, often, Jia Xue, would become the talk among the lecturers and the professors in the universities he went. They were intrigued that there was this one student who would always be on top. He was known among the lecturers as the lone-genius who could finish any tasks and answer any examination and got full marks without going to school.
Some of the lecturers even came to him for ideas. He's respected and admired by the academicians who got to know him, when they checked his tasks and examination papers. He did not attend normal classes but whenever the lecturers needed him to come, he would come. He didn't have much interaction with the students themselves but he was famous among the lecturers.
It did not come as a surprise, when one particular professor, Prof. Guo asked him onboard as one of the researcher in a Medicinal Research facility in Guangdong, soon after he finished his Medical degree. Jia Xue took a year to consider and reconsider the offer before finally agreeing to join last year. He had two reasons to agree; first, because he really love the challenge of researching for something that can be used by people, second, the facility is close to the village, which is only 2 hours away.
