"This is Yin Jia Xue.."
Madam Wang proudly introduced Jia Xue to the family, as Caleb stared incredulously, Jia Xue looking confused and the rest of the family stared in disbelief.
This is the first time Caleb brought someone over and Madam Wang is the one introducing him to the family. Everybody was taken aback.
Caleb's family had never been involved with his love life, not even once, because before this Caleb had never been seriously involved with anybody.
They do know that Caleb's love life had been pretty colourful and they'd even heard rumours of him being with a man. Though they never knew whether they're true or just rumours.
One thing about their son, is that he always put his family before anything. And no matter how reckless he was, he never did it to the extent of worrying or causing problem for his family.
In short, there had been no reason to question Caleb over his choices.
So, when Caleb told them that he had found the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, some time ago, they knew that Caleb was serious.
Something told them that, if Caleb could be this serious over someone, it meant that that person must be a very extra ordinary man. Caleb would never fall for someone ordinary.
Then, yesterday evening, Caleb called to tell them that he'd be bringing that person for dinner today.
Caleb's father, his mother and his sister with her husband, had been waiting nervously as they waited for Caleb to bring the person he said is THE ONE, to meet them.
After all, this will be the first time that Caleb is bringing someone to meet them. And it's not a woman but a man. So, admittedly everybody had been feeling wary.
But Madam Wang, the head of the family, had been pretty calm and cheerful all day.
"Grandma," Caleb looked at his grandmother, "isn't that supposed to be my line?"
Caleb took Jia Xue's hand and pulled him to his side. Jia Xue looked at Madam Wang and then the rest of Caleb's family, and he blushed furiously as he realised that they're watching him unblinkingly.
