Mrs.Yin had been eyeing Jia Xue and Caleb since they arrived home, this morning.
On the surface, everything looked fine. Both Caleb and Jia Xue smiled and laughed with each other. They looked happy and lovey dovey. But, Mrs Yin knew her grandson, more than any people in the world. She could tell that, there's something going on between the two.
Caleb is trying his might to be attentive to everything Jia Xue was doing. Whilst Jia Xue was more absent minded than usual.
Her grandson was never the most expressive person. He never was. But the last time he brought Caleb home with him, Jia Xue looked happier, showing more sides of him, that Mrs. Yin had ever seen him him show to anybody, even to her, before.
Yes, at first, it shocked her, because Jia Xue brought a man home, when she had been expecting him to bring a nice young lady. Instead, her only grandson, chose a man to be with him. It was not the norm and she fear that Jia Xue will be judged negatively by people.
So, her honest initial reaction was to reject the relationship. She didn't want her only grandson to face hardship with this kind of relationship. She was ready to ask Jia Xue to break off with the man he brought home.
But then, when she saw how Jia Xue smiled and looked Caleb, which very much mirrored how his late mother smiled and looked at his late father; her heart sank; she knew that what her grandson had found the one.
All his life, growing up, Jia Xue never asked for anything, he never even showed interest in other people at all. In fact, Mrs Yin had been so afraid that she'd die without ever seeing her grandson found someone who would be able to care for him.
She knew that her grandson is more than capable of taking care of himself; he has a career, he will inherit the family lands; Jia Xue will not be penniless, but she more than anything wanted her grandson to have someone beside him; to care for him and to give him the love, he didn't think he need. She wanted her grandson to connect to someone, with his feelings.
She finally got what she had prayed for; Jia Xue's heart had been touched. He's connecting to someone on an emotional level. She knew, more than anyone, that her grandson isn't like any other people. And if she opposed to Jia Xue's choice this time; she feared, he might never find this kind of connection again.
But, it was Caleb, who actually softened her heart to finally accept Jia Xue's choice. It was Caleb who convinced her that, he's the right man for her grandson.
Caleb showed his true feelings, he bared his soul to Mrs Yin. Until she had no doubt at all that the man will devote his whole life for her grandson.
She couldn't ask for anything more. Caleb might not be a girl. But he truly loved her grandson. And he has the power to protect Jia Xue.
When Jia Xue called and told her that he'd be visiting, and he'll be bringing Caleb with him again, Mrs Yin felt glad. She had been looking forward to meet Caleb again.
