"Jia Xue..love?"
Caleb noticed that Jia Xue had been sitting at the dressing table for quiet some time now.
"What's wrong..?"
Jia Xue didn't talk much, along the way to Caleb's apartment from his family home after dinner, tonight.
Caleb had glanced at Jia Xue worriedly, and he saw that Jia Xue was wearing a tranquil look on his face he heaved a relieved sigh.
They both took showers individually and then dried each other's hair. Still, Jia Xue remained quiet.
Jia Xue turned to look at Caleb, letting Caleb see what he'd been looking at for quiet some time, then.
It was the Jade bangle that Caleb's mother had put on Jia Xue's hand.
"Your family, really liked me.." Jia Xue said in a voice filled with wonder.
"No.." Caleb shook his head, "they don't just like you. They love you to pieces.."
Jia Xue blushed, "and your mother gave me this.." Jia Xue took the Jade bangle and looked at it, dreamily.
"You're the partner of the Wang family's first born son." Caleb repeated his mother's words, "that Jade bangle is the proof of acceptance. You're now promised to me. We are promised to each other."
Jia Xue nodded dreamily, "I am so glad. So happy. "
Caleb smiled feeling the warmth of their love washing over from head to toe.
Caleb was sitting on the bed, his feet in front of him, as he leaned against the bed headboard, scrolling the latest investment news on his iPad.
He put down his iPad then, and walked off the bed, towards Jia Xue.
He put his arms around Jia Xue from behind, bending down to put his head against Jia Xue's head.
"I'm glad too.." Caleb breathed in Jia Xue's sweet lavender scent, "I'm super glad. Super happy!"
Jia Xue clasped his hands on Caleb's hands, which were linked in front of Jia xue as Caleb back hugged him.
"We're really serious about each other." Jia Xue wasn't asking a question. It was a statement.
"We are. We have been serious about each other since the very beginning.." Caleb added, "I had been serious about you even when you haven't yet realised my presence in your life.."
"But you weren't gay to begin with, right?" This time, Jia Xue's question didn't hurt Caleb, he's not asking because he's doubting Caleb, he's asking because he's just curious.
"No." Caleb had only ever been with girls, "but, falling for you was different.."
"I fell for you; as a whole person." Caleb tries to explain, his grandmother had pointed out, that Jia Xue needed to be told his good points.
Because as unbelievable as it may sound, Jia Xue didn't see any of it. Jia Xue needed to be told about it. Not because of vanity but because of his blindness to physical looks, especially his own.
" The fact that you're a man didn't even bother me. And I never wanted you to be a woman.." Jia Xue and Caleb looked at each other in the mirror in front of the dressing table, "you're everything I'd ever wanted and more..just YOU. As a person."
Jia Xue smiled at Caleb through the mirror, "you're everything for me too.."
He pressed Caleb's palms on his beating heart, "I never realized my own heart beat before I met you. I mean, I know I have it. It is the vital organ that pumps blood all over the body. I'd die if I didn't have it. But I never heard it beating. Ever.."
That description of Jia Xue's initial feelings ; was so honest, so blunt, and factual, but it came out so romantic to Caleb's ears.
"I'm glad you felt like that! " Caleb kissed Jia Xue's forehead, "I'm glad to be the one who made you feel alive.."
"I've been confused..and I even doubted you..I'm sorry.." Jia Xue leaned back on Caleb's body.
"And I'm jealous and possessive..", two emotions that Caleb couldn't control much.
"which I think I will need a life time to get over, with.." Caleb continued to look at Jia Xue in the mirror. If he could ever get over it; not that Jia xue is complaining though.
"I'll give you that life time.."
Caleb's heart stopped.
"I'm going to hold you to that, Jia Xue." Caleb muttered, tightening his embrace.
"Please do." Jia Xue smiled, eyes looking at Caleb unflinchingly and unblinking, "I promise you, my forever."
Damn! When did this innocent man learned so many lines that shot arrows straight into my heart like this? Caleb groaned inwardly.
"I'm going to take your forever, then." Caleb's voice was a little too coarse with emotion.
Jia Xue nodded. "It's yours."

"You will have to make the call tomorrow." Madam Wang looked at her son, seriously.
Caleb's father nodded, "yes. I know."
As soon as Caleb and Jia Xue bid their goodnight and went home, madam Wang turned to her son, and they went straight to the study room to have a discussion together.
"When was the last time you heard from your cousin?" Madam Wang eyed her son. She had long ago stopped asking about Wang Fen. That woman had brought too many heartache to the family.
"A year ago.." Caleb's father answered. It was when they confronted each other, over the housing development in Qiqihar district.
Of course, he won the bid, much to Wang Fen's chagrin.
He himself would prefer it if he never had to contact that woman, if he could help it.
But, he would be calling his cousin tomorrow, after a year, because he doesn't have any other choice.
Then Caleb's father looked at his mother again, "Ma."
"Are you going to contact her too, then?" He asked.
"I don't have any choice do I? Like you too.. These are the things that we just have to do.." madam Wang said determinedly.
"What's more important is that, the children can be happy, together." She said.
Caleb's father knew that.
"The truth is I never thought that Caleb will fall in love with a man, for real. When I knew, I was still having doubts." Caleb's father said honestly, "but after meeting Jia Xue, I knew. He's the one for our Caleb."
"Jia Xue is the one for all of us." Madam Wang said, "we fell for him as soon as we laid eyes on him."
It's the truth.
"Even your usually hard to please daughter." Madam Wang reminded her son, "she was already fighting with Caleb for Jia Xue's attention the first time she met him. She really doesn't like too many people, your daughter. But she loved Jia Xue."
As always. Madam Wang was able to observe everything.
Caleb's father looked at Madam Wang. His mother is absolutely correct.
"The Jade bangle had found it's rightful owner." He nodded, muttering under his breath.
Jia Xue is not only perfect for Caleb, he's also perfect for the whole Wang family.
So, making sure that they got Jia Xue by Caleb's side, will be their top priority.
