Chapter 8: Awakening

It was 6 in the morning. Jia Xue just had his morning bath and was preparing coffee when the doorbell rang. Repeatedly.

Who in the world?! Jia Xue only ever had one frequent visitor, the president, and that man is still 100 miles away on his business trip.

Jia Xue was frowning as he walked to the door. Maybe it's one of the security staff.

The minute he opened the door, his eyes went huge as he stood there unmoving like a statue.

"Mr. President!" Jia Xue exclaimed incredulously, "you're supposed to be in Chengdu..until tomorrow!"

That surprised look on Jia Xue's face all but made Caleb who was already seething in anger, madder by the second. Good God, he wanted to tie Jia Xue up and fuck him senseless.

"You didn't know it was me at the door and yet you opened up?????"

He looked very angry; Jia Xue stepped back. He had seen Caleb angry before but not to this extent. He could almost see the throbbing nerve on his temple, and his hands are clenching on his sides. His handsome face was taut and his expression- beyond dangerous.

"Mr. President..Sir.." Jia Xue opted to look away and he turned to walk away from the man, as he always did whenever he felt the strange feelings beginning to occupy his mind, which made his heart twisted painfully.

Usually, Caleb would let Jia Xue off; he would let Jia Xue turn and walk away every time he got uncomfortable. After all, Caleb did want to give Jia Xue all the time in the world to acknowledge his feelings.

Yet, not today. Today, Caleb's patience had been stretched to it's ultimate limit.

He had made it very clear that Jia Xue was to take his mobile phone with him all the time, for the whole one-week Caleb is supposed to be away on a business trip. If it wasn't a pre-decided business trip, where preparation had been done months prior, he would have just cancelled it because he really didn't want to leave Jia Xue unattended.

So, with much reluctant he decided to go through with the planned business trip but he made it very clear, that he wanted to know what Jia Xue is doing and where he is, with whom he is meeting; so he demanded Jia Xue never to part with his phone.

Imagine his surprise when his calls on the first day, all got through to the operator. It was his coffee break, and he sneaked away from the meeting room, to call his beloved.

Then, when Caleb finally had it, he called one of the researcher working in the team, to tell the man about his call. He bet, that Jia Xue just put his phone inside the drawer as he always did.

The pretty one really is fearless, is he not? Caleb was fuming with anger, then when he called again, and Jia Xue picked it up, Caleb exploded.

But even with such imposing demand for Jia Xue to carry his phone, he still did not adhere to it. Jia Xue even switched off his phone the whole afternoon and evening all through the night. And yes, Caleb tried calling all night.

By morning, Caleb had lost his mind. He lost every sane thought to continue with his meetings. His thoughts is filled with Jia Xue and nothing else. 

So, to everybody's disbelief, Caleb apologized and called his vice president, to come and continue the rest of the on his behalf. Something that Caleb never did before. The only thing that could come in between Caleb's work is his family.

Knowing that there is no family emergency and yet, the president is leaving just two days into his one week business trip; everyone was shocked and suspicious.

Caleb flew back early morning and was already in front of Jia Xue's door at 6.30 in the morning. He was already on the plane when he remembered that in the midst of arranging for the vice president to come and his plane ticket home, he mistakenly put the house key inside his luggage.
