"Caleb..please.." Jia Xue squeezed Caleb's hand on the table, as Caleb gritted his teeth.
He's obviously nearing the end of his patience.
It had been almost a month, since the intertwining web of connection between Caleb and Jason and Zhu Li and Jia Xue, unfolded.
And in that one month, Zhu Li had gone back to New York. While Jason hadn't contacted Jia Xue again, after the emails he sent.
Caleb thought that it's finally over. That the man had given up.
He should have known that Jia Xue's effect on people wouldn't wear off that easily.
Caleb had brought Jia Xue out for dinner, because they hadn't been out much this whole month.
Jia Xue had been taking extra hours work, together with his team because they're so close to getting a breakthrough.
Caleb had agreed that Jia Xue moved back to the facility, and he moved in with him. It's easier for Jia Xue to work and Caleb too; felt more at home there, than at his own home.
Not surprising considering, the room prepared at the facility was his own idea, and he's involved very much all the way with the design and preparation. It was his first gift for Jia Xue. Before they're even together, Caleb had already pictured them living in that place together.
The blank wall at the living room now has a picture of him and Jia Xue, though, not yet a marriage picture, but it's a picture of them together. Soon, it would be changed to the picture Caleb had intended to be put up there since the beginning.
Back to the problem at hand. Caleb took Jia Xue to one of the chic restaurant in town. It's fun, with life music and not that high end. It's a place where he and Jia Xue could enjoy.
And then, to his horror, a few foreign guys came in together with a person, that almost had him cough on his water. It was Jason Guan. Caleb watched in disbelief as he led his friends into the restaurant and walked straight for Caleb and Jia Xue's table.
"Hi, there.." Jason Guan greeted, both Caleb and Jia Xue as if they're old friends, who had not seen each other for so long.
Caleb forced a smile while Jia Xue gave him a worried look and then gave Jason a confused look.
"Hi."
"Jason," his two foreign friend came to stand beside him, "your friends?"
Jason smiled seeing Caleb cringed at the word 'friend'.
"This, is Mr Caleb Wang. A big shot in China." Jason introduced Caleb to his friends none too ceremoniously, then he turned to Jia Xue.
"And this..." He took his time, letting his eyes roamed Jia Xue's figure from head to toe.
Jia Xue blushed, then reached out for Caleb's hand on the table automatically.
Caleb saw that look Jason Guan is giving Jia Xue and it's making his blood boil, and he's trying his might not to stand up and punch Jason Guan then and there. Jia Xue's touch gave him a little more strength to resist the tempting thought too.
