Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

*Spock's POV*

I jerked awake, desperately trying to calm my racing heart.

Jim was absently tracing circles on my arm. The soothing action helped and I let out the breath I had been holding.

"You're safe," Jim murmured, pulling me closer as I buried my face against his chest.

"I know," I replied quietly, letting go of him reluctantly and sitting up.

"I should go see my parents, mother will be worried."

Jim nodded, getting up and stretching. "After we do that we need to go see Pike, he wants to talk to you about what happened."

I felt warmth bubbling up inside me. "You will come with me?"

Jim nodded. "If you don't mind. I want to look over the evidence Pike has against Kev, see if he missed anything.

I paused. "You really think he is innocent?"

Jim hesitated but nodded. "I know I don't have any reason too, but I have a gut feeling. I think he was set up. I don't know how, or why. I just..... I know he's innocent."

I nodded. "Very well, I will help however I can."

Jim looked up in shock. "You don't think he did it either?"

"I do not know, but I trust your judgment. If he is not guilty he should not be locked up."

A smile lit up Jim's face and he pulled me into a tight hug.

"I'm so glad you're home."

"As am I," I replied quietly.

...................

Amanda began fussing over me the moment we appeared in the doorway, after she had given me a hug tight enough to leave me gasping for breath.

"Sorry, sorry! Please, come in! Sit down, are you warm enough? I know I have a blanket around here somewhere. I'll make some tea too, are you hungry?"

"Mother," I said firmly. "I am fine, and we just ate. Tea would be appreciated though, if it is not too much trouble."

"Not all! Jim? Do you like tea?"

Jim nodded, smiling. "Thanks Amanda."

She smiled back at him and glanced at me in worry before hurrying off into the small kitchen.

I sat down on the couch, avoiding Jim's eye. The short walk had left me feeling weak and slightly light headed, but Jim worried about me enough without stupid little things like that.

Jim sat down as well and put his hand on my knee, reading my expression easily.

"You're healing Spock, it will take time. Amanda will understand if we can't stay long and Pike can wait until tomorrow if you're tired. You don't need to hide it."

I nodded distractedly. "I will be okay, the sooner we report to Pike the better."

Something flickered across Jim's face, then it was gone and he was smiling at me again.
