*Jim's POV*

Jim, you need to come to the holding cells. Immediately - I think we've found them.
-Pike

I was out of the room before I realised I had moved, sprinting to the holding cells with only one thought on my mind.

We've found them, I can get Spock back.

I burst into the room, skidding to a stop.

Kevin looked up as I entered, then nodded over to where Pike was standing with the security officers by another cell.

I nodded in thanks, rushing over to them.

"What do you have?" I asked anxiously and Pike gestured to the man in the cell.

"This is one of the men holding him, he's given us the location."

I looked over to the shifty looking man, frowning in confusion. "Why? Why are you helping us?"

The man shifted uncomfortably. "Look, I never wanted to take this job, but the money was good and I had my wife and kids to think about. It's gone too far now. My boss is completely insane, they'll kill a lot more people if that's what it takes, they'll kill those two. They don't deserve to die."

He hesitated, then continued. "You'd better hurry, it won't take them long to realise what I've done. They'll abort, either move them or kill them to cover up their tracks."

Pike nodded sharply. "We are already preparing a ship. We'll be under way shortly. You've done the right thing, Jared."

He nodded and Pike turned, leaving the room with me right on his heels.

"Did he say who hired him?" I asked sharply as we headed to the ship.

Pike shook his head . "I asked, but he doesn't know. Said he'd never seen their face, or heard their real voice. I asked if he thought it was Kevin but he said he didn't know."

We boarded the small ship and Pike barked some orders before turning to me.

"I have to be on the bridge, you have free access to the whole ship. We should be there in a few hours." I nodded and he left me alone with my thoughts.

The ship left the atmosphere quickly and I went over to one of the screens that showed the stars, looking out as they whizzed past.

"I'm coming Spock, you'll be safe soon." I whispered to the stars, just praying we aren't too late.

...............

It only took us a little over three hours to reach the location this Jared guy gave us, and if I wasn't so terrified about what we might find I would have laughed at the irony.

Of course they chose this planet out of all the planets.

We landed roughly two and a half kilometres away from the coordinates we were given and began moving in on foot.

We didn't want them to know we were coming, it was just go in, get out with Spock and Carol.

I don't understand why we can't just beam in and out, but Pike said it was too risky.

He was probably right - they're smart, there will probably be traps and we don't want to beam right into one.

Besides, Jared could just be setting us up, we have no way of knowing if he's telling the truth.

So we walked.

It was only Pike, me and 2 security officers. The less the better, although I would rather have a hundred men to make sure Spock was safe. I knew that was unreasonable though, so I stayed quiet.
