Chapter 5

Si Avery lang ang naka-usap ko buong biyahe. Mikee and Alice took the chance to sleep. Abala naman si Aerand sa pag-e-edit ng video sa kanyang laptop.

"Ibig sabihin, kayo ang may-ari sa flag carrier ng Pilipinas?" Tanong ko, gulat na gulat sa nalaman.

So, they're the Lorenzos in the airline industry! Hindi kasi ako nag-research kaya wala akong kaalam-alam na si Azure pala ang anak ni Frederico Lorenzo. Ang akala ko ay magka-apelyido lang sila! Hindi lang naman airline ang business ng pamilya nila, marami pa. Talagang doon lang sila nakilala kaya iyon na ang tumatak sa isip ng karamihan.

Tumango si Avery. "Yup! Azure will manage our airline soon. Pero nakikita ko na wala siyang interes doon. Gusto lang niya maging piloto at assistant director..."

Napa-isip ulit ako. Why would he pursue a career in the film and entertainment industry, then? Gusto niya nga maging piloto, eh. Para saan pa 'yung pagiging assistant director niya? Wala na ba siyang magawa?

"He studied in DLSU, now, he's a licensed mechanical engineer. Then he went to Harvard Business School for two years to obtain an MBA degree..." Avery said proudly.

"P-Pitong taon siyang nag-aral!?" Now, I'm shook.

"Well, Daddy asked him to do so... At saka kailangan niya 'yon. After all, he's the presumptive heir..." sagot ni Avery.

"P-Para saan naman 'yung pagiging assistant director niya kung gano'n?" sana ay hindi nakukulitan si Avery sa kaka-tanong ko.

Nag-indian seat siya sa couch at humarap sa akin. "Aerand is a professional photographer. Paminsan-minsan ay kinukuha siyang cameraman. Their other friend, Kurt, is a director. Nagka-interes si Azure nang minsan siyang isinama ng dalawa sa set. My brother's new in the field. Half a year, I think? And I could see that he really love what he's doing..."

Pinanood ni Avery ang reaksyon ko. She smiled widely when I popped another question.

"I-Is he planning to become a director someday?"

Itinukod niya ang kaliwang siko sa dulo ng couch at pumangalumbaba. "Let me share this with you... I could recall what happened during his birthday last October 24. He went home and told us that he just got the best birthday gift ever. Mommy and I asked him if what it was, but he was just smiling like an idiot. Can you imagine? We have never seen him like that until that day!"

October 24? Kung tama ako, iyon ang araw ng unang pagkikita namin ni Azure! But based on Avery's story, masaya talaga siya. Aba! Nakatanggap ba naman ng birthday sex, eh! Tinawagan pa nga ako 'di ba?

"So to tell you honestly, Kirsten, I'm not really sure. He's so happy. Very happy. At ang pagiging assistant director niya ang nakikita kong dahilan. Sana ay hindi niya ibalita sa amin isang araw na magbabalak siyang maging direktor. Our parents will not allow him if ever. Masyado na siyang bida bida sa pagiging subsob sa pag-aaral..."

Tuloy-tuloy ang kwento ni Avery tungkol sa kapatid niya. Azure Spéir Lorenzo, a 25-year old eligible bachelor who's residing at BGC, is a licensed mechanical engineer, a licensed private pilot, and an assistant director. Naglalaro ang lahat ng impormasyon sa isip ko, pero ang pinaka-highlight ay ang katotohanang wala siyang girlfriend o asawa. He has a lot of flings, though. Avery even told me that he converted their house into a hotel for a month.

"Local and international models and actresses... Students from U-Belt... Name it, Kirsten! And he almost screwed a Senior High student for Pete's sake! Mabuti at naagapan ng magaling kong kapatid! Iritang-irita nga ako, eh! Sarap nilang sakalin! Lalo na 'yung mga babae niya!" gigil na sinabi ni Avery sabay subo ng fries.
