As I ran around the corner of an old brick building, a terrible and gruesome scene layed before me. I imediately stopped in my tracks, gapping, then covering my mouth. It was a straight ally way with the width of a road that ran about twenty feet. The road formed a T section where two arms-width ally ways broke off.

In the middle of the twenty foot road was a young girl's body. It was covered in blood and some of the insides were missing. One of the freshman girls, I thought and my stomach got quesy. Right behind the girl's body was a figure in a black business suit with its back to me. The man, or monster, had bloodied hands and was making a strange growling noise. Not one of anger, but one of intrest. Being careful to not make a sound or sudden movement that would attrack the thing's attention, I carefully stepped side ways to see around.

That was when I saw my terrrified friends Sam and Risa. Sam had fallen down to her knees and was shaking. Tears were flowing, but her eyes were widened in fear as she stared at the sight in front of her not even noticing me. Risa was standing on wobbling knees like she sould give out any moment, repeating the same words over again....No way, no way.....no freakin' way. She was histerical and also fixed on the sight in front of her eyes. I stood there, quivering in silence. I knew what the monster was going after next, but it was taking its time.....making it more painful.

The monster cocked its head sideways as if examining its new play toys. There was only a short amount of time left for my friends......No! I told myself, There's no way I'm going to let that happen! So I did the only, and most stupidiest thing that I could think of.

I picked up a small piece of brick that was sitting near a building........and threw it at the monster.

The piece hit the back of the monster's head, causing it to move forward a bit. It then turned around to see what hit it. The monster stared for a while for a few seconds, watching me as I stood in complete shock. It licked its lips with a long, sickening, saliva covered toungue and lunged. Apparently I looked more appetising.

I whipped around and ran as fast as I could. Speeding down the ally, I took a left and then a quick right. I heard the sound of something crashing into a wall. Good, I thought, It's still following me. That made me relax a little knowing that Sam and Risa would make it, but I tensed up. I still needed to get away.

Twisting and turning through the maze of ally ways of the old part of town, I payed no attention behind me. The occasional crash told me it was still hot on my trail. No more than a minute or two had passed by as I raced. Constantly changing allies made the thing crash into the walls. I had learned after the second time it wasn't very good at turning sharply. Turning right I found myself going down an ally that gradually became wider, and it had no other ally ways attatched to it. Oh crud, I thought.

Quickening my pace, I ran until I got to a courtyard with an old, dry fountain on the right; a large bell tower on my left; and another entrance straight across. Yes! I thought. The pathway straight ahead was one of the doorways that lead to the newer part of town. If I could only make it to the other side and alert people maybe the monster would give up the chase!

Running across the courtyard made me feel like I was in slow motion. Each step I took seemed to get slower and I thought I heard the monster's heavy breath behind me. No! Not now, not when I'm so close! My inner voice yelled which caused me to speed up by maybe a few steps. I heard the monster take a deep breath. It's going to leap on top of me! I'm not going to make it!! the voice inside me yelped, I began to run in a desperate dash.

All of the sudden I was picked up off the ground. NO!! It got me!! cried the voice. I kept my eyes closed until after a few seconds, I relised......it felt like I was flying. Opening one eye at a time, I saw that I was thirty feet off the ground and a pair of arms were wrapped around me, carrying me newly wedd style. Turning my gaze to my rescuer, he had dark, dark brown hair that was spikey and eyes that were a silvery-blue-ish color. He was the most handsome boy I had ever seen. His gaze was off of me, looking straight ahead.

Once we.....landed, he put me down gently and asked if I was all right. I told him I was fine in a shakey voice. He made a small laugh and gave a smile and said that that was good. His voice was so smooth sounding that it was almost like a lullaby. Not trusting that I would fall off the roof of the building where we were standing on now, he kept one of his arms around my shoulders and had me lean on him for support. I was thankful, not only for that he, the most perfect person I had ever seen was being so nice to me; that he was supporting me because my legs gave out on me after a few minutes. I was tired from running.

It was then that I noticed he had the uniform of a Cross Academy night class student. My heart skipped a beat, then began the strange Thud da, Thud da instead of the normal Thud thud, Thud thud. I relised that this was the same feeling I had felt when I had been standing with Risa and Sam watching the night class students come out for the first time.

"Hey, are you alright?" The night class student asked, his voice had strayed from the sweet honey tone to a more worried one.

I didn't have time to answer. I simply passed out.
