Emma
Kaito and I finished up our picknick and climbed back onto the horse again---Kaito helping me of coarse. He took us back to the stables to drop off the horse, then we went back to the mansion. We had stayed at the pond for lunch / dinner so we skipped the dinner with Kaito's parents and younger sister.
I decided to retire early so that I could get in a good rest for the ball tomorrow. I would be the center piece at Korrina's fancy dinner I guessed so I wouldn't want to be dozing off in the middle of the party. The servant girls helped me into my nightgown and I climbed into bed. This time when they left I got up and locked the door and then went back to bed. There would be no more Maira sneaking into my room tonight.
~"~
It was about mid-day when I heard a noise. I had been keeping myself on alert just in case Maira found a way to pick the lock on my room. I woke up to see how the little girl had made her way in when I froze. The figure was standing on the window sill with the window partically open. They were covered head to toe in black. The sunlight that came into my dim room revealed that it was not a child's figure but an adult's. This wasn't Maira, but someone completely different.
And this completely different person was holding up a knife with a gloved hand that had vampire hunter markings on it to injure vampires. The person jumped down from the sill and made an attempt to cut me at the throat before I could react. My right hand flashed up and caught the hand the dagger was in and my left caught his left hand just in case he tried anything with that one. The man was stronger than me and my strength began to fail me slowly as he overpowered me.
The knife began to get closer to my neck until it was right on it, drawing blood. I twisted his wrist so that the knife was now sideways away instead of pointed at me. That put it an inch away from my throat. That position was even more dangerous but at least it got the knife away from my neck for the meanwhile. Some of the servants could be heard at the door fumbling with the door knob. They weren't strong enough to break the knob and they hurried away to get a vampire.
The man struggled even more with me, knowing if he didn't kill me now that his plan was lost. He was standing at the edge of the bed while I was lay-sitting in a akward position on the bed. If I moved back he would overpower me and if I tried to go off to the sides he would get me there as well. So, I decided to lounge in throwing him off guard. He stumbled back and I was able to twist his hand around so as he fell back into the wall, the hand he was holding the dagger in plunged into his chest causing a river of crimsion blood to pour out of the wound.
His left hand stayed pinned on the wall as I had kept a good grip on it and his right hand I kept pressed against himself hard to drive the knife in even further. I felt his muscles relax and I knew he was gone then. He dropped to the floor and the knife fell out of his hands and landed beside him.
Just then the door knob on my room was twisted off its place on the oak door and the door was shoved open. Kaito, Toran, Arashi, and Kogeta stood in the doorway. Toran had been the one to rip the knob off the door and Kaito had been right behind him. Kogeta and Arashi had been forced to come in last. They all relaxed when they saw that the perpitrator was dead.
"Sorry about the floor." I told him, looking at all the blood that was soaking into it.
Kogeta looked towards the others and they left Kaito alone with me.
"Your bleeding." Kaito pointed out worriedly.
"Want some?" I asked him.
